Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
My dealer told me yesterday that the new sw was not available for uploading. I live in Sweden. I am going to call him today to see if he can upload it today. I will give you a full report about the new software. and MOXXEY: You were very rude about how many times I asked the question about this new software. This is a free forum and those guys you mentioned who should tell all of us when the new software should arrive did not do it. I did it! So maybe there are some other guys too in this forum who has connections to B&O who maight know this kind of information. Therefore it is important to highlight the question as often as possible. Now the software excists! I just hope the 24p-support will get the bluray movies less jerky picture.

Martin He only said is not necessary to open a new thread everytime you want to ask the same question. You can use the same thread to ask it. Btw, you told us this news on 20.06.08, I did it one day before here EDITED: And The Stig (as moxxey said) did it on 19-06-08 too here

Martin, you need to understand how to use a forum. Rude, perhaps. However, we didn't need new topic every other week asking about the sw. Just use the old topic and post another question. Also, as I mentioned, there are loads of top people on here who have our greatest respect - BeoLab, Mr Anderson, The Stig - all very patient people, who would inform us on release. They did, too.
You also managed to start a new thread later the same day Mr Anderson posted a new thread on the new sw. It ain't *that* important :)

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
Moxxey, please! First: You don´t need to tell me how to use a forum. Second: I really don´t think you should decide if a special question is important or not. If you are so good at this forum, you should know at this time that some questions are more important for some people than for others. Third: About "dedicated" people who know more than others about B&O. I think you should have a more humble attitude about people in this forum, as you don´t know what knowledge and competence people really have. Enough about this know! Regards Martin

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
Martin, don't get upset, moxxey was being polite, don't get insulted! I agree with moxxey, please use older threads for this, it is much easier to find information afterwards. If you are now looking for software updates on Beovision 7-40 there will be a bunch of threads... instead of one or two... Ralf

Yes, Ocean's 13 for sure. There's a bad panning issue in an early scene, if I can remember correctly.

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
As far as I know all BR are "recorded" in 24p, however, not all BR player output 24p. Also your display needs to support 24p. Karsten

All theater movies are recorded with 32mm tape and 24 pictures per second. "Broadcasted TV movies" are different and usually recorded in 50 pictures/frames per second. Then often on DVD movies they have recalculate it and showing the move 4% faster than the original recording because they struggle for less motion jaggies. So the film you watching on DVD are 4% shorter than the original movie at the cinema. So we have benefit of the 24p update in every movie we are watching besides TV recorded movies and studio broadcastings. Regards

Which is only true for PAL DVD's, NTSC DVD's have no speed up.

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
I installed it today on our BV4-65 -BS3 played 3 different blu-rays and I cant honestly see any difference between them... I guess I never noticed any jitter before... Casino Royale, Planet Earth and Live free or Die hard were the movies I tested.

I assume from your post that your dealer is here in the US? I hope you are correct and that is what the a stands for. Our new BV7 is to be delivered a week from today and I really would like the new software to be installed at that time.

That's no surprise at all. Which is exactly why I wasn't getting really 'excited' by this much-anticipated sw update.

But the PANEL has to be 24p as well to make a difference. Unless you have the very latest BV4 (a few months old)it is not a 24p panel

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
As far as I know the DVI module in the Panasonic comercial panel does not support 24p at all, you need to upgrade to the new HDMI module with two inputs. Not sure how B&O handles this with their version of the Panasonic stuff. This module fits in the G10 series only. http://www.panasonic.com/business/plasma/boards.asp click on this board: TY-FB10HMD I can see a huge difference with 24p, just take a look at BBC's Planet Earth, there are so many vertical moves where you can see the improvement. (my expirience is based on a 24p HD-DVD player with a JVC HD1 Full-HD projectoron a 103" screen)

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
My understanding, from another post here on Beoworld that explained the new software is that even on a non-24p panel, i.e. a BV7 MKIII there would still be improvement. Not true 24fprs in the traditional sense but a simulated 24fprs for lack of a better description. Also, reading Alex's post I thought he was a dealer. If so, I wonder if the 65 inch that it was installed on was a latest version BV4?

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
Here is the quote from another forum here on Beoworld I referring to in my previous post. Doc: Can you please explain what the update is supposed to do? In other words; can I tell a difference in picturequality? Or is it only usefully when playing DVD or Bleary?
The update are only useful when you are watching DVD, BluRay and broadcasted movies. So what does this fix solve? Everything that is recorded in 24Hz are going to get much smoother and more detailed in picture movements and pans( Less pixel reduction).. In ordinary TV broadcastings the material are recorded in 50Hz (Pal) and 60Hz (NTSC) and you are getting a picture by picture match on your TV, but not when it´s comes to movies. Moviematerial are usually recorded in 24Hz and that means you only get half the pictureamount the TV need´s for a smooth result. What B&o have dun with the 25p firmware update: Because the panel can only handle 50 or 60 Hz and not 100 Hz they have interpolated the frequency with 25p x 4 = 100 Hz and then divide it with 2. Now you get 50Hz match for a more picture to picture sync.. So you are only missing 4 fps insted of 26 fps loss when you watch a move.. And you must be aware of that this is not a real 24p mode.. If you want real 24p you need a 100Hz / 120Hz panel, but it´s as good as it can be... Regards

Re: Sw 4.24 has now arrived for BV7-40/BS3/BV9
Alex, I am being told that 4.24 is not yet available in the US. I just wanted to confirm that you are a dealer and that it is in fact available to all US dealers now for download such that I can in fact have it installed on our new BV7 next week when it is delivered. Thanks!

Razlaw, 4.24 is up and running just outside DC. And I agree with Alex that the new frame really looks nice on the BV-4 65. Russ
