    Paris:

I have liked reading the forum of this website and decided to be brave and register. I say brave because I'm a girl. Are there any other female members on the forum? Or any other uni students?

Well, I've been an uni student at www.tkk.fi for 21 years now Laughing

And welcome from me too, Paris. We certainly don't have many female members, but I really can't see why! Join the fun, it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from!

I'd be very curious to know more, being intimately involved with the BeoLab 5 and related loudspeakers.  Have you got any paper you might be willing to share or discuss?

    Best regards,

    WOW.

That is an extremely generous offer David.

Paris, take up this offer without delay - you won't find a more informed gentleman than David on these speakers.

I would like to add my welcome to you Paris, its good to have female members because it provides balance to many of the discussion topics. Your project sounds interesting and I would take up David's proposal.

    Regards Keith....

Hmmm. Care to tell us more, or would that be sub rosa? Big Smile

I second the suggestion  above, Paris. David worked on developing the Acoustic Lens Technology and was a member of the team that created the BL5s - you'd get a lot more info than what you got in the stores.
Did you see the latest magazine/catalogue at the B&O stores? They had some BL5s that were "decorated" - not sure what I think of those. What I like about B&O is that the majority of their products are functional art. Whenever I see my BL5s I get a smile on my face, they're that beautiful - to me. Not everyone shares the sentiment.

    Here's Lenny Kravitz' BL5s:

Here's some more B&O Art. I'd pay good money to own that -- well, we have, haven't we? Big Smile

Re: Hello beoworld and maybe a surprise

I have so many of you to thank already for being so kind and helpful. My project was based much more around the design of beolab 5 and how they integrate within the home in a subtle yet peculiar way. I did not gain much technical knowledge about the speakers, other than the lens technology which I read about on this website. You would not guess they are speakers if you did not already know about Bang & Olufsen or the beolab 5 in particular. I also looked at other modern ornaments and items in the home which disguise their primary use or function. I tied in this piece of furniture with my beolab 5 assignment: http://www.boingboing.net/images/_images_teenage-furniture1_12.jpg

Re: Hello beoworld and maybe a surprise

Welcome Paris.  I too am a university student, in the US.  Not a girl though, well usually...
You mentioned not being able to afford much more than the beosound 1.  You may not realize that many of us are interested very much in older B&O products.  On a student's budget such as our own, complete systems from the 80's and early 90's can be found for the price of a new Beosound 1.  By the way, is your school on facebook?

    Austin

Oh, and don't bother trying to connect to Alex on facebook.  He's already made it clear in a previous facebook discussion that he only makes facebook friends with his real-life friends Stick out tongue

    Welcome Paris!

Would you kindly post your work?  It would of great interest to many of us to read and learn more about how the design world sees the BL 5 & B&O in general.
