    Beosound 9000 NMusic upgrade

I am wondering what would be involved in gettting a Beosound 9000 MK1 Nmusic compatible. Under the FAQ's on this site there are two conflicting solutions for this issue.

    Beosound 9000 Nmusic upgrade

One FAQ on this site says:

Please note that the upgrade of the BeoSound 9000 MK1 model is very extensive, while the others simply involve replacing a chip

    However another says:

BeoSound 9000 type 252x produced from April '96 (MkI) and Beosound 9000 type

256x (MkII) produced from September '98 simply require a software update. It is a

chip change, and although the software level may change from time to time the

part number remains the same - which is 8344087. Quote this to your dealer if

    they are unsure.

So which is it? Just a simple software/chip change on a MK1 or do other parts need to be replaced?

    Re: Beosound 9000 NMusic upgrade

As far as I am aware the kit to update the Mark I & II is the same and certainly has the same part number.

To update previous BeoSound 9000s, Type 252x and 256X, with software version 2.5 order part no. 8344087

I can confirm that it is just a software change. Part number is 8344087 as Keith says.

I have done several, probably into double figures and have had no problems.

    Keith,

If you buy the chip upgrade you will need a plastic removal tool and an anti-static wrist strap.

In the picture below you will see the location of the chip to be replaced.
