Please help with moving Question: Will my stereo work elsewhere?
I know many of you don't live in
Italy but I figured I would ask the question before I talk to my B&O dealer. I have a Beosound
9000 and I am moving to Italy for a couple years from the United States.
Will the stereo work in Italy and if not, what will I need to make sure
it works? I don't want to bring it all the way to Italy if I can't use it. Any help is appreciated.

I don´t think the radio will work. Different frequencies.
Beovision LX5500, BeoCord V6000, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 3500, BeoLab 2000, BeoVox1, BeoCom 6000, Form1, LightControl 1

I heard the story about the radio too when I moved with my BS2300 from Germany to US. In the end it worked even RDS. It is correct though that frequencies are a bit different.
BS9000, BS2300, BC2, BL2500, BL3, Bl2, BS1, BV8, BC4, A8

I Remember you speakers sent you a PM - however the above has said the same!! Remember the speakers if US will need the same in most cases and these use a lot more power!

Re: Please help with moving Question: Will my stereo work elsewhere?
joeyboygolf: The radio will work in Italy just fine. Slightly different FM range but not sufficient to cause major problems.
What about the frequency stepping? In the past I had a US car radio and the frequency steps were fixed to x,0 x,2 x,4 x,6 .... so it was not possible to tune the local station at 95,5MHz (in Germany). Marcus

Quoted Before: European electrical systems are 220v so your US spec equipment will need a step down transformer to enable it to function in Italy.
What is a step down transformer? Approximately how much does htis cost?

For some reason, I thought that the step up converter is in the American cord. I thought you only needed the European cord. Is this correct?

I don´t know about the rest of the old world but Sweden has changed to 230/400 V. It´s 15 years ago but people still say 220/380!

Re: Please help with moving Question: Will my stereo work elsewhere?
Issue has been resolved. B&O recommended a voltage converter from 110 to 220 at the airport or electronics store (they did not sell them).
If the sound is poor, they may need to do an internal conversion but that is probably not required. Thanks everyone.

The only difference between US and EU spec is the FM range covered. I have done this conversion and the radio works fine.

Europe has standardised on 230v + or -. Could drop as low as 220 or be as high as 240 but this makes no difference to the equipment.
