Can anyone enlighten me. Is there any reason why a 120v USA beosound 3200 would not work in the UK with an appropriate voltage converter?

With all the other models in the range there is no need for a voltage converter. You can just move a couple of jumpers on the power supply and it will work no probs. Should take no more than 1 hour.

I'm not sure about the 3200 as it's innards are different and I have not had one apart. The service manual is not very helpful.

Graham, do you know if this applies to the BeoSound 9000? I'm thinking of buying one from the US for a friend, to use in Australia.

I'm sorry to say that it does not apply to BS9000's.

The 120v version is different and it is financially not viable to convert them to 240v. I have done one in the past but I bought it very cheap and considered it worthwhile.

You could consider using an external transformer.

Just to add to the info here, older beogram turntables (I'm not sure about the more recent ones) won't work across countries with only a voltage transformer or internal voltage change because the motor speeds are based on the frequency of the power current.  This means the motor has to be changed or modified.
