Re: Who made the best buy on a used Bang & Olufsen gear???

I just got home with a mint, never plugged in, Beomaster 2400-2 and Beocord 2400 for $100 from my local Craigslist. The seller said to make an offer and I didn't want to completely insult him. Everything works perfectly and is in as-new condition -- I am not sure that they were ever removed from the box until the seller listed them

Only two minor issues: the rear legs are missing and the adhesive on the P and O button on the remote isn't holding. Not too concerned with the remote button but I am now on the lookout for some legs!

I was planning to sell the BM3300 I have but after my wife saw the 2400 she said to keep them both, "they're so cool looking!" Smile

Re: Who made the best buy on a used Bang & Olufsen gear???

Well - it would not be professional to say what i come across in the course of my business, but i can honestly say real bargains don't happen that often as people nearly always have a good idea what their kit is worth.

However, i was at a customers house the other day buying some equipment and they mentioned a brand new, boxed BeoLink 7000 (used once, he didn't like it, and put it back in the box and then in his loft).  I said i was actually looking for a mint one to complete my black BeoSystem 7000 and that i had a mint floor stand for one to sit on.

We ended up shaking hands at £25 on the proviso i didn't sell it - and i never shall !

    ------------------------------

However - the star of the show didn't happen to me. Listen to this!

Customer comes into LifeStyle AV and says..

Customer - "I'm looking for a CD Player or something to use with some speakers we sort of inherited"

Me - "I assume they are old and wooden (laughs), so you'll need something with an amplifier in it then?"

Customer "Well, they don't look that old to me, but i'm really not sure"

Me - "Where did you get them from?"

Customer - "Well, we bought the house, and the previous owner left them there. He said we could keep them"

Me - "What do they look like?"

Customer - "Well, sort of big, conical, with two sort of discs on top - and they are pretty big!"

Me - (jaw dropping) - "you mean those?" (points at BeoLab 5 in showroom)

Customer - "hah! - yes, those exact ones! Are they good then?"

    Me - "...." (speechless...)

Holy Cow Lee, I don't think that can be topped.  Although I'm willing to bet they must have paid a quite bit for the house if it was owned by the type of person who would just leave those behind, so perhaps in the grand scheme of things that was just a 'little' bonus.  Stick out tongue

Just got 2 Beocom 6000 phones, one base station, one wall charger, and one Beotalk 1200 answering machine, approx. 3 years old, not used for the last year and a half, and MINT.  $200 USD.  Not too shabby!
