Who made the best buy on a used Bang & Olufsen gear???

I think I did a pretty good buy some days ago.

What about a 2002 Avant Real Flat 32 in very good condition for 300 Euro.

Now I understand all of you who always talk so good about the Avant. It´s a fantastic pice of art, and when I linked it to my old Beosound 2300 (which I btw bought for 150 Euro) I was blown away by the enormous sound.

So - was that a bargain or what???

Tell us about your buiness with second life B&O.

I think it was the pair of flawless passive Pentas, a BL1000 and really clean, white BM6500 + BC6500 + CD6500 + VX5000 for 450 €. Had to fix the three last ones, though, and I'm still irritated by the fact that they guy had sold the matching BG6500 earlier...

I got a non-working but absolutlely immaculate Beolit 609 for £8 from a charity shop a couple of years ago. It did cost me a little to have it fixed up by the very knowledgeable Tim Jarman, but it was well worth it :)

    Good question !

Let's see hmm. As far as cheap goes it must be the Beocord 2000 and Beomaster 2000 (both '80s) which were 22£ as I recall. It was 115£ to fix it but worth it. All other B&O is mostly fair price but few to expensive like my Beogram 8002.

As for my Beosystem 6000 ('80s) in white its a very clean looking system and no scratches with minor work needed.

The Beogram 8002 was repaired by my local shop for 210£ but nearly dead after 2 months. Dillen fixed it for far less and its faultless.

Re: Who made the best buy on a used Bang & Olufsen gear???

My maiden purchase of B&O on ebay was spectacular:

The add was for a pair of Beolink Speakers, with no pictures with a minimum bid of $1,800 and a zero feedback seller.   I called the seller and the reserve was $2,200.  He described a pair of Penta III's and said there was other gear to go with it.  I ended up with:

    • A pair of Penta 3's in good condition
    • A 9300 with the belt off the door mechanism for the CD
    • about 15 Beolink 1000 wall brackets
    • New RL speaker stands
    • A pair of Beovox 3000 speakers - nearly mint
    • A pair of Beolab 5000 speakers - nearly mint
    • a bunch of wires, cables and some other stuff I don't even remember

All this was for a price of $2,200 a couple of years ago.  I regret selling the Beolab 5000's, of course.

I also picked up a pair of Penta 3's in the factory box that had been opened, tested, and stored for years.  That was $1,500 and they were truly mint.

I have found some other good bargains too.  For me, it is all fun and I get to play with all the pieces I have never been able to afford.  (I was a salesman in an audio store 20 years ago and never could afford the B&O stuff I loved.)

And if you get a second one for this price - just tell me, color doesn't mind ;-)

Re: Who made the best buy on a used Bang & Olufsen gear???

    1. Mint beosystem 4500 (minus turntable), plus cx100 speakes, manuals, and beolink 1000 for $500 (£250)

    2.  1999 Penta 3's in original boxes for $1000 (£500).  Still haven't picked them up yet or even seen them in person though.  Is 'excited' even the right word?

    3. White 6500 MCP but with cracked glass for $50 (£25).  I'm replacing the glass, but I had never realized how incredibly hard it is to do compared to something like the 4500 system glass panels.  I thought you could just pop it out and stick a new one on...

    4. New in box SP12 cartridge for $25.

    5. F1000 furniture for $355.

I just realized I listed most of my B&O stuff.  Needless to say I usually I don't buy something unless I can get a good price.

Re: Who made the best buy on a used Bang & Olufsen gear???

A about 3 years ago I brought a Beovision L4500 for £40 on Ebay, the seller did say they would include a non working Beolink 1000 with it. So I thought I would take a look at it to see what was wrong. Put some batteries in it and it worked. So I sold it for £40 as I had no need for it. Voila, one free TV.Wink
