I just got it today. I have to manually load cd [label side down]. Display shows "play" and "1".  Sounds like it's trying to cycle or load but no sound.  Any ideas?

Sounds like the old spindle motor problem. Did you let the unit get up to room temperature first?

If it still doesnt work, you'll have to take the motor apart, clean the old lube, and reapply fresh. I used '3 in 1' oil on mine, and its been fine for over two years now.
