    B&O Chat 02-2008

This is a transcript of B&O chat sessions in februari 2008.
I can't get it in the blog section. Maybe due to the large amount of text.
Now I will ad a link in the blog section, to get to this information.
This post can be used to comment, but I'm fine if you don't.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 2:02:00 PM CET]

[#3623] Thanks, I will contact my dealer and discuss it.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 2:02:00 PMCET]

[#3622] I will close for today - and wish you all a pleasant day

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 2:02:00 PMCET]

    [#3621] Answer to post #3613

Sorry I overlooked this one. I think it would be too expensive to replace the inner part and LCD screen compared to the price of a new TV. But this is something you need to discuss with your dealer/workshop.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 2:00:00 PM CET]

[#3620] Can you give feedback on #3613 before close down of the chat session? I know I have given you lots of questions today.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:59:00 PMCET]

[#3619] The chatroom will close very shortly, for today.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:56:00 PMCET]

    [#3618] Answer to post #3616

We are pleased to see that you find the chat useful today.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:55:00 PMCET]

    [#3617] Answer to post #3615

yes, it should work, but with a number of other wireless products in your home, it may cause problems - like for all wireless products, not just BeoLink Wireless.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:53:00 PM CET]

[#3616] Very usefull chat so far. Thanks.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:52:00 PM CET]

[#3615] I would like to hook up a BL2000 via ML-wireless. I know it's possible. But can I expect problems. Good to know I have constantly running 1x Mac Mini, 1x PowerBook G4 and Apple Airport Express, all working on the same wireless network.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:53:00 PM CET]

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:43:00 PMCET]

    [#3614] Answer to post #3612

    That is correct.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:42:00 PM CET]

[#3613] I own the first BV7-32" model dated december 2004. I love it. I like to update. Simple trade in and buy a new one is the easiest, and most probably expensive option. Can you tell me if it is possible to swap the innerpart, LCD etc. for a new model?

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:42:00 PM CET]

[#3612] O.k. I get it. Serenata + Earset 1 are a dedicated combi. Simple and clear answer.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:38:00 PMCET]

    [#3611] Answer to post #3610

The Serenata EarSet 1 cannot be used for other phones than Serenata, i.e. also not for Nokia.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:35:00 PM CET]

[#3610] I would like to use "Earset 1 mobile STEREO version" headphone from the Serenata. The one with a microphone in it on my NOKIA E65. Is this possible? If so, what do I have to purchase totally (including accessories)

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:35:00 PMCET]

    [#3609] Answer to post #3608

The plug in for Mac is not for a computer with Vista. BeoSound 6 is not yet working (has not been tested) with Vista. We trust we shall have a software available for this during Spring. BeoSound 6 should work with XP.

CONDE, Spain [2/27/2008 1:34:00 PM CET]

[#3608] It´s not for mac. It´s for windows VISTA or XP HOME the plug in.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:31:00 PMCET]

    [#3607] Answer to post #3605

Thank you - I will pass that information on.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:31:00 PMCET]

    [#3606] Answer to post #3603

I am not completely certain what the problem is. But BeoSound 6 plugin for Mac you need to run the package "beosundplugin.pkg"

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:28:00 PM CET]

[#3605] On my BS3200 there are 4x30 CD's stored on harddisc. A CD was stored fully but some numbers were deleted. This stored CD has 1 song #13 to be exact from a CD stored just recently. It is very odd when we play this CD. All tracks are from one artist, and when it reaches song #13 one song is by a complete different artist. I don't bother, because the CD is not one of my favorit CD's. But I would like to tell you so you can inform the techys @ B&O.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:26:00 PM CET]

[#3604] Thanks for the tilting query. Now I'm convinced my son can't tilt it on its own.

CONDE, Spain [2/27/2008 1:25:00 PM CET]

[#3603] Hi, I´ve purchased a beosound 6,I´m very interesting about itunes mode. I´ve downloaded the plug in .The problem is about what file I must select when the "plug in" is downloaded, in the directory "contents".

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:21:00 PMCET]

    [#3602] Answer to post #3601

I have now received information, and shall try to explain. If you push with 13% of a products weight, and the product tilts to max. 15 degrees, it must tilt back again. BV7-32 weighs approx. 30 kg.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/27/2008 1:12:00 PMCET]

    [#3601] Answer to post #3600

I must say that I do not have the information about the force to tilt a BV7-32 readily available. But I shall try if I can find it while on the chat.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/27/2008 1:10:00 PM CET]

[#3600] Hi, can you give a reply to question #3569 (tilting BV7-32")

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 2:06:00 PMCET]

[#3598] The chatroom is no closing. If you have further questions concerning the setup of PS2 with your TV, please let us have an e-mail.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 2:05:00 PMCET]

[#3597] You need to connect the PS2 to a scart socket, e.g. AV1, and then in the setup menu "name" the socket to e.g. V.TAPE. Then when you choose V.TAPE on the remote control you "open" for the scart socket, and will receive the signal from the product which is connected to the scart socket, in this case PS2.

Eric, Sweden [2/20/2008 2:02:00 PM CET]

[#3596] Playstation 2. Don't know which BO TV model. It's about 8 years old.

[#3595] Please note that the chatroom is now closing

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 1:57:00 PMCET]

    [#3594] Answer to post #3593

Which TV do you have? - and which PS do you want to connect?

Eric, Sweden [2/20/2008 1:56:00 PM CET]

[#3593] I want to hook up a Playstation console to my TV. How do I "search" to get the signals from the Playstation onto the TV screen? Menu-Setup-?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 1:34:00 PMCET]

    [#3592] Answer to post #3589

I can see that we did receive an e-mail from you. But we would like to have further details about your setup, as mentioned in my previous answer

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 1:26:00 PMCET]

    [#3591] Answer to post #3589

If you send us an e-mail with the details of your products (names and type nos. - but serial nos. can also help us)and how the products are connected (i.e. which products are in which room etc.), we shall try to help you with information. But it is difficult to do via the chatroom, so therefore it should be by e-mail

Eros Faina, Italy [2/20/2008 1:24:00 PM CET]

[#3590] Tank a lot you have been very Kind. Have a nice day. Eros

Jamie Ward, United Kingdom [2/20/2008 1:23:00 PM CET]

[#3589] Thank you for your reply, my local dealer is truying to help but cannot find the reason either. What details do you require?? i have all serial numbers etc. I used to run the whole system through an MX5500 with STB, Decoder, RF and system module with no problems, unfortunately this was replaced with the Beovision 8 which doesn't. Jamie

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 1:21:00 PMCET]

    [#3588] Answer to post #3586

BeoLink 7000 is fully compatible with Beosystem 7000, and other Bang & Olufsen products with two way communication, e.g. Beosystem 6500, Beosystem 2300 (of the two way version).

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 1:18:00 PMCET]

    [#3587] Answer to post #3584

I am afraid we cannot from you description say why your BeoVision 8 does not work with Beocenter 2300. In order to obtain help I suggest you contact your Bang & Olufsen dealer - or write us an e-mail with further details about your setup.

Eros Faina, Italy [2/20/2008 1:18:00 PM CET]

[#3586] Sorry again but can you tall me with witch product it is fully compatible? It a so incredible object that i would like to use it at is best.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/20/2008 1:15:00 PMCET]

    [#3585] Answer to post #3583

Yes, Beolink 7000 can operate both BeoSound 3200 and BeoSound 9000, but only for normal daily use. Two-way communication is not supported on BeoSound 9000 and 3200 so this remote is not fully compatible. We recommend Beo4 for these products.

Jamie Ward, United Kingdom [2/20/2008 1:10:00 PM CET]

[#3584] I am experiencing problems connecting a new Beovision 8 (fitted with system module) with my Beocentre 2300 via a ML/MCL converter. The system works fine with my Beocenter 1. I also have a set of Beolab 8000's and several sets of passive speakers in link rooms. I've been advised by my local dealer and someone in technical it is not possible to use the Beovision 8 as the master and this would be overcome by utilising a Beocentre 6 is this correct. Jamie

Eros Faina, Italy [2/20/2008 1:09:00 PM CET]

[#3583] Good Afternoon, sorry I woul like to know if the Bolink 7000 works with the boesound 9000, or the Beosound 3200. I will be very geatfull if you can answare to this my question. Eros

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/13/2008 1:49:00 PM CET]

[#3574] @Guido, Hook up your standard monitor to the PC. Set the video resolution to 1024 x 768 or lower. This way you should see something on your TV. Regardless what DVI cable

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/13/2008 1:49:00 PMCET]

    [#3573] Answer to post #3570

As much as we appreciate your help, we must ask you to let us answer the customer question. I hope that you will understand this and use other channels to chat together, eg the Forum.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [2/13/2008 1:47:00 PMCET]

    [#3572] Answer to post #3568

You need to enter the setup menu and make sure that you have chosen DVI as source, if ofcourse you are using this as input.

Guido, Germany [2/13/2008 1:47:00 PM CET]

[#3571] i have the cable with 24 pin and one long pin

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/13/2008 1:45:00 PM CET]

[#3570] @Guido, There are 3 parts that make it work (PC, TV, cable). I had difficulties with the DVI cable. For me a fully wired cable was the best. First I used a cable with 18 pins, now I use a 24 pins cable.

Coolskin, Netherlands [2/13/2008 1:44:00 PM CET]

[#3569] We have a son of about 2 years now. He is very mobile and demanding. First I could shout and he would leave the BV7 on motor stand alone. Now he doesn't anymore. When he wants he pushes with his both bare hands to the screen. At one time the foot came of the ground. This made me wonder how much force does it need to tilt a BV7 like I have. Do you know?

Guido, Germany [2/13/2008 1:42:00 PM CET]

[#3568] ok thx i have now the button pc on the remote, but i have no Picture on the tv my pc have connect to beovision 7 and on the tc is rigth the PC led on

[#3518]Answer to post #3516We must keepthe language in English in the chatroom. In order to obtain a Mastercode forBeoSound 1 you need to contact an authorised dealer. You need to show some IDand give them a postal address. Then the Mastercode will be sent to you bypost. I doubt that they will be able to help with the PIN-code.

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 2:13:00 PMCET]

[#3517]Answer to post #3515I am sorryit took a while to come back to you. But I tried to find a BeoSound 1 on astand. I can see that there is a small hole in the rear at the back of theplate on the stand. But I cannot see that there is a matching hole in BeoSound1. I cannot say what the holes you mention might be for.

MartinNielsen, Denmark [1/30/2008 2:08:00 PM CET]

Frank vanEkeren, United Kingdom [1/30/2008 2:05:00 PM CET]

[#3515]there is one whole in the stand itself and one in the sytem, at the sameplace.....must be there for a reason

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 2:04:00 PMCET]

[#3514]Answer to post #3513I am notcertain which holes you refer to? but there are no holes for a fixing screw.

Frank vanEkeren, United Kingdom [1/30/2008 2:03:00 PM CET]

[#3513]thanks for your message. Not great that it can not be fixed. What are thoseholes for?

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 2:02:00 PMCET]

    [#3512] Thechatroom is now closing.

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 2:00:00 PMCET]

[#3511]Answer to post #3510Yes, it iscorrect that BeoSound 1 is not fixed to the floorstand, but is placed over the4 pins. There is no larger pin or screw for this. We have not experiencedproblems with BeoSound 1 falling off the stand.

Frank vanEkeren, United Kingdom [1/30/2008 1:54:00 PM CET]

[#3510] Isit correct that the Beosound 1 is not actually fixed to the floorstand, butjust placed loosily on the stand on 4 tiny pins? There seems to be an extrahole in the stand and acorresponding hole in the system, which suggest that alarge screw or pin might fit to secure the system to the stand. No suchpin/screw was delivered however. I would find it very odd if the system can notbe fixed to the stand as it quite easily could fall of. grateful for yourresponse, thanks, Frank van Ekeren

    Thomas,Denmark [1/30/2008 1:50:00 PM CET]

    [#3509] Youranswer is noted

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 1:48:00 PMCET]

[#3508] Icannot help with a solution based on your description. It is the dealer who cancome up with a solution. But as your telephone is 3,5 years old and has had noprevious problems, I am quite certain that we cannot offer to repair thetelephone free of charge or at a reduced price. But in order to find outwhether the telephone is in fact defective, it will be necessary for thedealer/workshop to have a look at it.

    Thomas,Denmark [1/30/2008 1:45:00 PM CET]

[#3507] Comeup with a possible solution or suggestion to solving the problem, this cannotbe the first time someone experienced this problem.

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 1:44:00 PMCET]

[#3506]Answer to post #3505I must askyou to contact a dealer, as I am unable to help from a distance. I am notcertain what you would like me to do through the chat or e-mail?

    Thomas,Denmark [1/30/2008 1:42:00 PM CET]

[#3505] Sodo I. But also I expect more support from you, when this type of failureshappens. We had 2 reasons for choosing this products design and quality, andfor the last I do expect more than 3,5 years life.

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 1:39:00 PMCET]

[#3504]Answer to post #3503I am sorryif the telephone is defective. But this can happen with Bang & Olufsenproducts also. We understand that you are disappointed if the telephone isdefective and requires a repair. But we must consider this to be an unfortunatebut accidental failure, which may occur in any electronic equipment.

    Thomas,Denmark [1/30/2008 1:36:00 PM CET]

[#3503] Iwas just under the - apparently - wrong impression that a service chat wasactually able to come up with some suggestions. Going to a dealer with a phonethat is 3,5 years old, and therefore outside national guarantee will be asignificant write off. I dont'get surprised if a cheap phone breaks down thatsoon, but not a B&O product.

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 1:32:00 PMCET]

[#3502]Answer to post #3501I am sorrythat Fona asked you to call us to get help. But it is not possible for us totell from a distance what may be the reason for the problem. This is why I haveto refer you back to a dealer. If Fona cannot help, I suggest you contact adedicated Bang & Olufsen dealer to get help. You can find dealer addresseson our website, if required.

    Thomas,Denmark [1/30/2008 1:29:00 PM CET]

[#3501] Icall you for help, yesterday the official B&O dealer FONA in Aalborg toldme to contact you. Seems to me that responsibility is just being pushed on. Ihave a technical issue with a high profiled and expe3nsive product and franklyI expect more service from B&O than when calling a low budget company.

    parkere,Nigeria [1/30/2008 1:21:00 PM CET]

    [#3500]thanx !

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 1:20:00 PMCET]

[#3499]Answer to post #3498I cannothelp you with these details from here. But please follow the link I just gave, you and maybe write to the responsible department through this. There are anumber of requirements which have to be fulfilled in order to become a dealer.

    parkere,Nigeria [1/30/2008 1:18:00 PM CET]

[#3498] whatdoes it take to be a dealer ?

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 1:16:00 PMCET]

[#3497]Answer to post #3494We only sellour products to authorised dealers, so in order to buy from here you need tobecome an authorised dealer. You need to contact us through the website:http://www.bang-olufsen.com/page.asp?id=176 - Please note that I cannot promisethat you will become an authorised dealer.

    CustomerService, Bang & Olufsen [1/30/2008 1:14:00 PMCET]

[#3495]Answer to post #3492We must keepthe language in English in the chatroom. If you experience problems with thecharging of the phone the telephone may be defective, or the battery may needto be replaced. Please contact your dealer in order to obtain help.

[#3654] Hi Michael, if the problems persists and you can't get a replacement CD player from your dealer? In Germany there is a shop who has them on stock. Sometimes a kit is on auction at eBay.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [3/12/2008 1:47:00 PMCET]

    [#3653] Answer to post #3652

It is not possible to say what may be the reason for the problem. It will be necessary to take the product to a workshop, and have a technician look at it. It does look as if there is a fault in the product.

There is no CEO at present. It is correct that Torben Ballegaard is no longer here. He stopped un January. The board of directors is looking for a new CEO, and until he/she is employed Peter Thostrup is dealing with matters.

[#3642] On the bang-olufsen.com section "Tell us your story" I've made my contribution. Look for Beosound 1 and signed Coolskin. What are you up to B&O? Why do you want the feedback?

[#3634] This event happend before, some years ago. I was invited too. The boat was loaded with B&O stuff. And most important all models were in working order. There was a little cinema with (at that time) the latest video system, the Beovision Avant. All in cinema setup. IMPRESSIVE. I love B&O touch, sound, looks. On the boat I will see the latest, like the BL10 and BV4 with automatic screen calibration. I'm lucky to live in Holland then.

I am afraid that we are not able to recommend a Blu-ray player.

Dr. Adolph, Germany [5/7/2008 1:39:00 PM CET]
[#3754] Okay - I have one question more: actually B&O is not offering a Bluray Player. So I have to take another product. Can you recommend a product (Panasonic or Sony or something else) what is communicationg with the software of the BeoVision 7-40 MKIII with any technical problems?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [5/7/2008 1:37:00 PMCET]
    [#3753] Answer to post #3752
At this point, I am afraid that we are not able to inform about the situation with a 100 Hz screen.

Dr. Adolph, Germany [5/7/2008 1:36:00 PM CET]
[#3752] I assume that B&O is coming with a 100Hz display in the future. Make´s it sense to wait for that?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [5/7/2008 1:34:00 PMCET]
    [#3751] Answer to post #3750
The BeoVision 7-40 MKIII is Full HD, but not a 100 Hz screen.

Dr. Adolph, Germany [5/7/2008 1:33:00 PM CET]
[#3750] Okay, but the BeoVision 7-40 MKIII is HD ready as far as I understood, so I don´t need that kit. What´s about the 100Hz technique? Many other TV´s on the market are now available with this new technique but not B&O. This question is very similar like my first question with the 24P technique.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [5/7/2008 1:29:00 PMCET]
    [#3749] Answer to post #3748
The HD ready kit is for TVs which are not HD ready. The DVB-S module is for SDTV.

[#3748] In the German price list I found a position called "HD ready kit price 345,--€" What is a HD ready kit?? Next question: B&O is offering a DVB-S Module - is that module for HDTV or SDTV?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [5/7/2008 1:25:00 PMCET]
    [#3747] Answer to post #3744
The BeoVision 8 cannot detect that you have active speakers set on the TV when it is a third party product. Therefore it is not possible to use the speaker option.

I mean ofcourse when the software is available, your Bang & Olufsen dealer can do the upgrade. It is not possible to do yourself. Please talk to your dealer about the condition for a software upgrade.

[#3743] What does the term "...when this is possible." mean? Most probably you mean the "availability" of the software upgrade. It should be technically possible! Can I make the software upgrade for myself or is this a job for a B&O center? In the second case it would generate extra costs?!

You can buy the TV now and then have it software upgraded when this is possible.

    [#3739] Answer to post #3738
We are still working on a solution for the BeoVision 7-40 MKIII to handle 24P. We expect the software to be released during this Summer.

No, the sound cannot be changed either from the system in the living room. You might try to change the location of the BeoLab 2000 as this will change the sound performance.

I answer in English, as we have to keep the language in English in the chat room. It is not possible to say what may be the reason for the defect, and therefore it is also difficult to say whether it can be repaired. But I would think that it is possible to repair the telephone. Please contact your Bang & Olufsen dealer in order to have the telephone checked and repaired.

It could also be other reasons. But it is difficult to tell from here what could be the reason. The speaker or BeoSound Ouverture could be defective. In that case it would be necessary to contact a dealer/workshop in order to have the products checked and repaired.

You can download the user guide from our website (register under Community)free of charge. Please make sure to download the "old" version of the guide, not the latest one, as your base is probably a different one. You can also write to us through our website, and we can try to help via e-mail.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [6/18/2008 1:22:00 PMCET]
    [#3853] Answer to post #3851
It is possible to use just one speaker. So the reason for the problem is not caused by just having one speaker. It is difficult to say what could be the reason for the problem. But it is necessary that the Power Link cable you use is OK. You could also try to move the cable to the other Power Link socket of BeoSound Ouverture, in order to ensure that it is not the socket in the system that is defective.

[#3851] I have some problems with a B&O system I bought these days and I thought your experience in selling B&Os could help me. I have a Beosound Ouverture produced in 1991 and I just bought one (only one speaker) Beolab 6000 active speaker. After I connected the speaker to the power supply everything looked ok - the red led of the 6000 lighted. I connected the Powerlink cable from the Ouveture to the Beolab 6000 speaker and it seems the LED doesn't go green. It seems that the audio signal from the Ouverture is not passed to the Beolab 6000. I have switched the bottom button of the Beolab to be left speaker and then right and nothing happens. The speaker led remains red and no music is heard. My question is... it is absolutely necessary to have two speakers in order that the system to work ? Can I use a single beolab 6000 speaker with the beosound ouverture at least to test the speaker ? Any advice should help. I have tried all the possibilities and no result till now. 

Sorry for this late reply. The handset/base registration procedure is described in the user guide. The procedure is different depending on which base station you have. If you have the BeoLine MK II base station you can open the base for registration by connecting it to a power outlet. The base will start flashing which indicates that you can now register the handset. The base will flash in five minutes. This means that you have to register the handset within these five minutes. You can access the base registration through the BeoCom 6000 settings menu.

EarSet 2 is optimised for Serene, but as it follows the Bluetooth standard it will - in principle - work with any Bluetooth enabled device, such as mobile phones, PCs, smart phones etc. However, even though EarSet 2 applies the Bluetooth standard, complete compatibility of EarSet 2 with all Bluetooth devices cannot be guaranteed. Some producers may not follow the standard 100 per cent or interpret the specifications of the standard differently than Bang & Olufsen does.

a variable line from an amplifier is not powerful enough to be played with passive speakers and therefore the BeoLab 8000 amplifies the signal again.

[#3980] Are you sure? I just deleted the files from "My Music" and after that I started scan. But the the files are still in the "Removed" folder? Any more suggestions? :-)

[#3978] I thought the signal is already amplified in amplifier and the speakers aren't doing anything additional with that - so it's not like that ?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [8/6/2008 1:52:00 PMCET]
    [#3977] Answer to post #3976
Yes they should also be deleted from the "Removed" folder in BeoPlayer

Johan Stenberg, Sweden [8/6/2008 1:50:00 PM CET]
[#3976] So, if I delete my files and then start scanning. Will the files then be gone från the "Removed" files in BeoPort?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [8/6/2008 1:50:00 PMCET]
    [#3975] Answer to post #3972
They will be amplified since it is a variable line signal.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [8/6/2008 1:48:00 PMCET]
    [#3974] Answer to post #3973
Yes then they are permanently deleted.

Johan Stenberg, Sweden [8/6/2008 1:46:00 PM CET]
[#3973] Delete through Windows Explorer? You delete the wma-files from the computer?

Marek, Czech Republic [8/6/2008 1:45:00 PM CET]
[#3972] So the signal going thru the phono lines won't be amplified again in the speakers themself ?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [8/6/2008 1:43:00 PMCET]
    [#3971] Answer to post #3970
We will tru to look into this. But for the meantime it is possible through the Windows Explorer.

You will need to contact an authorised Bang & Olufsen dealer. You can find dealer addresses from our website: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/page.asp?id=4 He will also be able to inform you of the costs to have the product added, as I do not have any prices here.

Chris, Australia [7/30/2008 1:26:00 PM CET]
[#3952] Thank you for your feedback. Who do I contact to have the box added and what is the cost approx.?

We have to say that this Panasonic box is not in the list of compatible boxes which can be controlled with Beo4/Beo5. We have two Panasonic DMR boxes in the list, i.e. DMR-BW900 and DMR-EX100. Whether DMR-XW 300 will become available in the future, I cannot say today. But you can contact your dealer and ask him to give this feedback to our system, so that it will be considere for future updates. You can also choose to have this box added at your own expense.

    Re: B&O Chat 08-2008

Is it me, or does this look like a waste of time for B&O ?  Too little time, and not enough means to express the true nature of the problem by typed chat - resulting in a bit of a 'bun fight'..  I bet the guy at B&O goes straight for a strong coffee after that.

Are 'contact your dealer' or 'RTFM' on some kind of  'hot-keys' too? Indifferent

It just makes me aware that we are doing a darn fine job here!

    Re: B&O Chat 08-2008

Yes, I think the main problem is that complicated configuration questions are ill-suited for a real-time query-and-response format. An asynchronous format such as a discussion forum allows people to think through their responses. As B&O have this already, I don't know why they don't make use it for this purpose. I dare say few of our technical experts would attempt to put their thoughts down in a real-time chat.

You have to use an external RF amplifier with BeoVision 7-40 MkIII. The latest BeoVision 7-40 does not support this.

Coolskin, Netherlands [8/13/2008 1:51:00 PM CET]
[#3994] add #3989: And if this isn't supported? How to connect the MX4002 to the BV7-40", to be able to watch DVD on the bedroom TV?

Coolskin, Netherlands [8/13/2008 1:50:00 PM CET]
[#3993] #3989. The old BV7-32 can play DVD and I can watch this on the MX4002 in the bedroom. Both connected with ML and coax cable. I've read the new BV7-40" doesn't support feed through of coax signals.

[#3989] I like the (new) BV7-40" and want to trade in the (first ever) BV7-32". So far so good. But... the coax connections (2 pcs) at the back of the BV7-32" make it possible to feed the livingroom TV with analog signals, AND feed them through the BV7-32" and then towards the MX4002 in the bedroom. I like this feature. Does the (new) BV7-40" similar setup? Or has it only 1 coax connector?

We do not recommend that you replace the hard drive with a SD card reader. It is likely that your BeoSound 3200 would not work correctly afterwards.

[#4030] What is the last sw update for a MKi BV7-32"? Mine is 6.8 // I do encounter some minor problems. 1. DVD resume still not resolved. 2. after auto shutdown of the connected Mac Mini and Beoport late at night, when audio is on (CD, Radio or AMEM) the sound will mute. 3. Speaker 1 mode will not switch to speaker 5 mode if the digital TV signal is received with dolby digital or dts code.

Out of curiosity, Why replace the hard drive by a card... as the software limits the number of songs to 400 anyway??

The BS3200 in our home is one of the first models. The harddrive does make some noise in between songs. I can hear this because the unit is placed on ear level 50cm near my seat.

A modern harddrive or lets face it a SD drive doesn't have this kind of negative feature. That's why I considered swapping the harddrive for a SD drive...

The comment of a dealer was very simple. We don't do it. We can't say it will work out. But wait a couple of months and buy the new Beosound 5...

it must be nice to have a day off n the middle of the week. I remember you have informed us ealier that you make copy of this chat to Beoworld.

Coolskin, Netherlands [9/17/2008 1:55:00 PM CET]
[#4059] Wednesday is my day off. That day I am at home with my 2 year old son. When we are not bussy (and he's asleep) I try to monitor the B&O chat. When I do, I copy the transciption to a forum discussion on Beoworld.org... I started doing this from the beginning. In the next chat post I will add the link.

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [9/17/2008 1:52:00 PMCET]
[#4058] Sorry for the late reply -) We do not have information about the content of the new catalogue.

Please try to contact them as I am not sure if they have the cleaning cd or it has to go to the service center

Coolskin, Netherlands [9/17/2008 1:47:00 PM CET]
[#4053] When does the new B&O catalogue come out?

Coolskin, Netherlands [9/17/2008 1:46:00 PM CET]
[#4052] Do you mean I should ask advise, or do I have to deliver the BS3200 to my dealer...?

Customer Service, Bang & Olufsen [9/17/2008 1:43:00 PMCET]
    [#4051] Answer to post #4050
We do not recommend that you do the cleaning yourself, as some cleaning cds are not good. Please contact your dealer as they will the best cleaning cd to use.

Coolskin, Netherlands [9/17/2008 1:41:00 PM CET]
[#4050] Our BS3200 skips songs during CD ALL copy command. The CD is never touched before, brand new. So that one is ruled out. I think a good cleaning is in order. But how do I proceed, without damaging the Laser or other innerparts...?

Coolskin, Netherlands [9/17/2008 1:39:00 PM CET]
[#4049] @4048 I knew you would say that..., it's B&O policy. But I can't help it to try from time to time.

Ahh, yes!  Last year, as I was seeking to upgrade from our BS2300 to something more easily compatible with our BeoPort, BL2000 and BL3500, I visited the dealer to find that the BS3000 had been discontinued and was no longer available.

Having replaced many a hard disk at home through the years to get quieter ones, and cognizant of the fact that most drives grow noiser as they age, I questioned the dealer's assurance that disk drive noise was a non-issue.  I lurked around the beoworld forum archives and searched high and low and only once did I find a comment with regard to drive noise... seemed to be not much of an issue.

Still, my discomfort with the BS3200's hdd remained.

In any case, I was fortunate to find... a BS3000 in its box that someone had kept stored for some reason.  It is several years old but came pristine and has served us well for half a year now.

Anyway, I find it interesting that I never found your post, until now, and that it confirms my earlier fears, by mere happenstance, as I was looking for info on Beoline 2-line for Becom 1.
