I would look at the Panasonic plasma range. Bear in mind that the new BV4 has a few extras built in. The Panasonic will be cheaper!

If you are looking at the panasonic range, which are the panels inside the BV 4 you have the following options:

TH42PH10 - Commercial panel (no speakers or tuner) non full hd - approx £750

TH50PH10 - Commercial panel (no speakers or tuner) non full hd - approx £1350

TH50PF10  Commercial panel (no speakers or tuner) FULL HD - approx £2000

PH10's comes in black or silver, PF10 comes in black only. They should all work very well with the BeoSystem 3. The PF10 supports 24Hz/p with the HDMI board, but unfortunately we are still waiting for the BeoSystem 3 to support this nice / must have feature.

I am considering buying a PF10 for my BeoSystem 3.

I have both a TH-50PH and a JVC HD1. No handshaking problems with both (furtunately). The advantage of the Panasonic commercial line is the RS232 control by the BS3.

However, if you are able to strech your budget a little bit further you should take a look at the new Pioneer Kuro line up. Black levels are breathtaking! (and the look is nicer (imho) compared to the Pani)

    Hi,

do you know if the Beosystem 3 works with the Pioneer Kuro(8G) series?

I was contemplating this combination, but when I telephoned B & O UK,the response to my enquiry was a curt "Not recommended".

Does a Beosystem 3 not act like any other external preamp/processor?

My local dealer has offered to bring a Beosystem 3 for me to try,but I don't want to bring him on a wasted journey if B & O UK are correct.

Terry M,just let your dealer set one up at home and try it out I did and was impressed.B & O will say that dont support this and that.

I have a new Bv7 Mk3 which will not run with my projector but the two bs 3 that I tryed out work ok and others have the same pj as me with the bs3 and there fine also. Its a case of try out first and seeing!

You dealer will understand and the b3 is a great system.

My Dealer has been so helpful with my problem and hope to have something sorted very soonBig Smile

In theory the BS3 should act like any other processor, as always with B&O the devil is in the detail....best would be if you would test this combo at home. The biggest challenge I have in the moment (SW4.00a) is that the projector does not work with 1080p 50Hz, only with 60Hz and a challenge with the different black level ranges of the input/output which result in limited difference in the black/grey levels.

    Only a test could help!

    Bv7Mk3,and kawo,

                                many thanks for you comments.

I was very impressed with a lengthy shop demo of the beosystem 3 that I had late last year,so I will arrange for a home demo.

Assuming there are no problems,it will be interesting to compare the Beosystem 3's processing against that of my Pioneer LX608.

    Terry.

What I don't understand is when I read here that the Kuro plasma panel gives a much more beautiful picture in combination with the Beosystem 3 then the Panasonic panel, why does B&O not use a Kuro Panel ?

I thought they wanted to give their clients the best picture experience available?

Re: Bye Bye Bv 7Mk 3

Aren't the Panasonic units which make up the BV4 slightly upgraded to those found in Comet and Curry's? I alsways thought that the manufacturers of the "Donor" screens had to sign a clause stating that they weren't allowed to use the technology in their own units?

    Muchos Gracias Cool

    It is my understanding that B & O use a Panasonic commercial (PF/PH?)panel,but whether,or not,it is manufactured to B & O's quality control standards I cannot say.

I gather that Panasonic's commercial panels are more suited than it domestic models to being used with an external processor.

For me,the attraction of the Pioneer is not just the PQ-which is stunning-but also it's wide range of user adjustments,it's ability to handle 1080p/24,and the fact that it is capable of being ISF calibrated, and all for just over £5000 for the LX608.

Hence my desire to use it with a Beosystem 3.

[#3553] Ihave a prehistoric BV7 (version 2004) and like to hook up a beamer for fun.Just to see if this is something I like. If so I could investigate how to setup such kind of setup. Is my (old) BV7 equiped to handle the beamer?

Info about BV7-32 model 2004 and projectors.
