Hey guys,

I recently acquired a nice looking cdx.  There was an issue with the door not closing properly.  When you'd hit play the door would try to close further.  After adjusting the door mechanism inside I've fixed that.  Now however when I touch play I just get the question mark on the display.  In the user manual it gives some minor reasons regarding playlist programming for the question mark, but this isn't playlist related.  Does anyone know what it indicates or what I could check?

Replace capacitors, especially all those 22uF ones, and check those dreadful rivets as it is mentioned somewhere else on this forum.

It makes good sense to remove the old solder from the rivets and loop a cooper wire through instead, soldered to the PCB tracks on both sides. Takes time but is worth it.
