Hi all,

My Beolink 7000 recently stopped working (all functions, no lights or what so ever). I replaced all the obvious ELCO capacitors, including the SMD ones near the receiving unit by tantal capacitors.

I also changed the batteries.

Everything seems to be OK except that the blue backlight of the display will not go on.

Any suggestions? Maybe whilst replacing capacitors bad solder? everything seems OK thought? Is there any common fault to this?

There are 2 extra wires for the backlight, check wether there is a voltage of around 110V. I think, the colour is black and brown...

Then the backlight is defect, it's just a foil and can be replaced.

Oh, I don't have any parts for the Beolink 7000. 

I suppose that B&O would be the place to ask.

I found these light strips at Conrad. quick and easy.

Everything seems to work now.

Although I do have a question...

My TV and light dimmers respond very well to the BL7000. (LX6000 tv).

I am not sure if it should be possible or not, but it seems my Beomaster 5500 and Beocenter 8000 will not respond to the BL7000. Is that a normal issue? In other words, should I upgrade to a BM7000? And if I upgrade, do all BM's 7000 have RDS?

^NOTE TO MYSELF^: RTFM... OK, I found the trick... setup the BL to be able to connect to the BM and BV's...

Out of interest: what sort of light strips those were and how much did they cost? Was it visually better than before the replacement?
