    BV7 MkIII and DBox2, AC3 with S/P DIF

    Hello,

i have a problem to digitally connect my settopbox Dbox2 to the BV7.

I want to use the digital AC3 sound of the box and therefore i have connected the box via scart (AV1 for the picture) + spdif (for the sound). I had to convert the optical signal of the box to an electric one (cinch) for the BV7. How am i able to tell my BV7 to use the sound of the spdif? In the options menu it is only possible to select spdif when HDMI (A-D) is selected (!).

    Thanks for help
    Regards
    TS

You don't have to. If there is SPDIF signal detected the Beo 7 switches over to SPDIF. Works just fine

What D-Box software do you use (Neutrino/Enigma)?

There should be a system setting, audio/sound - use ac3 default output...

In that case you probably don't have a SPdif signal (I presume you connected the right input)

Check if the box is indeed sendig optical SPdif  (you see a led flashing), if so check if there is an electrical spdif signal (see wikipedia how to do that)

the box sends an optical signal => i can see thee red light.. When it is true, that the BV7 notices when there is an electical signal the problem has to be with the transformer or the electrical cable. can you give me a link where i can read how to check if there is an/ the right electrical signal? i have searched for it but nothing found...

    thanks a lot

Just to double check: at the moment you get no sound at all while chosing a tv station that is sending ac3?

If you still hear sound, it is stereo only and your box is not set to AC3 - see my post above.

    Re: BV7 MkIII and DBox2, AC3 with S/P DIF
