AV system , need help with link options

Hi , im new to these forums and i hope someone can help me out.

    I have an beosound9000 , a beovision avant, a beoport,a beo4 remote, and some speakers.

Idd like to set up my system in a way that it makes my TV the 'master'  and the beosound and port send their output signals to the
TV and then out into the speakers.

Idd like to set up the beosound to serve as CD/Radio source and my beoport as the source for Net radio/music etc.
i have ML cables connecting the bunch an PL cables going from the TV to the speakers.
i think the main problem lies with the AV link option programming of the items , thing is i havent got the slightest idea how to set these options.

    Regards , Patrick

Re: AV system , need help with link options

Hi Patrick firstly welcome to Beoworld. This lot should be quite simple to set up. From what you say you have it all set up correctly. As in the BS9000, the Avant and your Beoport should all be connected to each other via Masterlink. Then the speakers should be connected to your Avant via Powerlink. You should set your equipment to the following options.

    BS9000 - Option 0

    Avant - Option 2

    Beoport - Option 6

To set the options press the Red Spot (off) button and the List button at the same time. Then using the up/down button select Option. Press GO then select A.Opt followed by 0 for the BS9000. You will know if has worked as the stand-by light will flash a couple of times. Then do the same for the Avant, but select V.Opt then 2. For the Beoport. Select Setup then Config. Go in to Advanced and there you can change the option settings.

    Hope this helps.

Re: AV system , need help with link options

thank for the help craig , i'll definitly try this out !

I made a scheme showing my current setup. it might clear up the situation a bit

Im hoping to set up my system in the following way:
    BS9000 serves as CD/Radio source/Aux.Input
    Avant serves as TV/VCR/DVD
Beoport serves as Net music/net Radio, etc
BL2500 serves as output in room 3

I hope to get all these audio sources through the Avant into the room1 speakers and the BL2500

for the programming part the Option settings would be enough , craig did a wonderfull job explaining the Beo4 command above
Is theire any particular way or order in which it has to be done?
I read somewhere on this forum that you need to disconnect all ML and then program them.
Do you need to program the BS9000 for example so that when you press CD on your Beo4 it automaticly looks for CD input in your BS9000 even when 'aiming' the Beo4 at your TV ?

This is probably a common B&O setup , but i find that the manuals cant quite cope with user/community experience.
I'm hoping to get answers to these questions , testing it on my setup and ultimatly creating a sort of guide/tutorial on how to
connect/program it all, so it can help other people in similar situations.
And maybe avoid having this kind of people needing to call technicians for problems that are other wise easily solved with
    a clear scheme or guidelines.
This is what i think is the great advantage and strength of a forum/community.

You will need a Beolink Active for the room with the Beolab 2500s in. What you need is the Product Configuration Guide which is a B&O program that allows you to design your own system and then gives you detailed instructions on how to set it up and all the options needed. It is in the downloads section for silver and gold members here.

Well worth getting as it allows you to design complicated systems and then print out the instructions.

Re: AV system , need help with link options

Patrick in your diagram you have room 3 as containing BL2500. These are a pair of speakers which as Peter has said would require a Beolink Active to work. Although I notice that you only show one. Do you mean a BL2000 or BL35000 which are stand alone units.

    See the links below.

    Yes its a BL2000 not a 2500

I'll check out the program and get the silver memb ship.
Sounds like an interesting tool :)

Hi Patrick, you need to set your BL2000 to Option 6. This is done just as I described but I think you need to use L.Opt then 6. Everything should then work as you want.

Now it will do it all automatically. Just one thing to add, make sure the units are in stand by when you set the options.

I've set the options , but the TV doesent respond to CD/Radio commands from the Beo4 , the beosound doesnt respond at all , as it should.
The beolab2000 can acces CD/radio from the beosound
But the TV or Beolab cant play Net music or Net radio from the beoport

Patrick, did the stand by light on the Beosound flash when you set the options?

Re: AV system , need help with link options

Very strange, by putting the BS9000 in option 0 and the Avant in option 2. Pressing CD on your Beo4 should make the CD play through Avant and any speakers connected to it.

Had to ask, that is a bit too far to come round and have a look.Laughing Next question(s) then, was all this equipment connected and working before? What have you changed or added to the setup?

Re: AV system , need help with link options

i once had the BS9000 right next to the Avant and both were connected by a single ML cable with all speakers on the avant , now theire is a small wall seperating them but its still the same room (on the drawing , the line showing a ML cable between the avant and the BS9000 , theire is a 4,5 to 5 foot wall about in the middle of the 2 , a 7 footer can look right over it :) )

that setup worked fine , i later expanded it.

now the TV ML cable goes in a splitter box , so does the BS9000 ML cable , and that box is connected to another splitter box which has the BL2000 en Beoport on it

Re: AV system , need help with link options

Next step would be to check the connections in the splitter boxes. Just to make sure none of the wires have come loose.
