    Beosystem 1 Product Guide ?

    Hi

    Can anyone help me

I have just become the owner of a second hand Beosystem 1 (USA Version)

It is complete with updated firmware and working just been serviced by B&O

I have the Beosystem 1 Guide

In the Guide it refers to a

“The audio/video equipment which is available on the menu for additional sources is listed in the enclosed Product List”

Anyone know where I can download that Product List ?

    Thanks

    Hi

I am not sure if I explained myself properly

As I don’t think your answer is the one I am looking for or it may be my miss-understanding

But if you can do it on the Beo4 please tell me how ?

I assumed the “Product Guide” mentioned is a list of all the B&O and Non B&O products that are supported by the Beosystem 1

The type is Beosystem 1 Type 8480

The firmware is updated to Firmware 5.2 (which i belive was the last revision)

It’s also had the following hardware updates

IC Update and HD input Mod

    I paid US$ 1,500.00 for it

I am now trying to find a list of what Non B&O components will work with it

    Best Regards

Re: Beosystem 1 Product Guide ?

Congratulations that is a great unit.  I sold mine recently to update to a BS3 but I always liked the BS1.  Sounds like everything is up to date.  You can see the available sources by pressing menu on the remote until you see an option for 'external sources.  From there you can set what type of unit you want controlled through the DVD input, TV input etc.

For some manufactures the remote codes may be older models that still work with the newer units.  For example, Samsung tends to be pretty consistent compared to Sony.

Here is a Puc list but I don't believe all these will be on the BS1:

Nothing that fancy.  It just makes the unit 1080i compatible for some of the earlier models.

    Dear Michael Kevin

Thanks that is exactly what I am looking for

    Thanks

    Regarding compatibility

I thought I would stick with Panasonic as from what I have read in the forums that anything from Panasonic is likely to be still compatible with the Beosystem 1

    Is that correct ?

I am now looking to buy a  DVD player also maybe a Blue Ray player also  I need a new Flat Screen

Any recommendations that you know are good and also will be compatible with the Beosystem 1

Regarding DVD player although I live in Taiwan I travel to the USA every couple of months so no problem for me to pick up a USA version only thing is it must be Multiregional as my disks are from all regions.

Blue Ray is again the same as above

Regarding the screen I don’t see United Airlines been too excited about me trying to haul a Flat Screen around the world so I will need to pick that up in Taiwan but again any model recommendation would be much appreciated

As I mention I want to try and make what I buy compatible with Beosystem 1

Thanks for all your help so far

    Best Regards

Re: Beosystem 1 Product Guide ?

For a panel the best advice I can give you is to stick with one of the Panasonic Industrial panels such as the 50" TH-50PH9UK.  These panels are essentially the same as what B&O uses in the BV4 (minus the special calibration they perform and of course the frame).  The BS1 will essentially think it is the BV4.  This will result in very tight integration of the panel and BS1 (adjustments,  digital curtains, etc.).

Depending on which model Panasonic you get you will need to enter a code in the service menu to conform the BS1 to the right specification and calibration.  You may want to double check with a friendly B&O dealer or service person to confirm that the model you are thinking of getting is compatible (as there are several newer panels available) and get the appropriate code.

    Dear Michael

Once again thanks for your comments and I will take your advise

Any comments about DVD and Blue Ray Player ?

I must admit I was thinking to source a second hand DVD1 and get it chipped for Multi-Region

Any comments on the above would be very much appreciated

    Best Regards

Re: Beosystem 1 Product Guide ?

I have the Samsung BD-P1400 which is a fine player but I know the more recent models are much improved.  As far as which is best you may want to poke around the general forum as people are usually opinionated on the subject.  At one time it was thought that the Sony Playstation was actually the best Bluray player around and a great gaming system to boot.  I think that over the last year the other players have caught back up on performance.

It may be hard to find multi-region as I'm not sure that any manufacturers make them with this capability.  You may need to do some research to find a model that you can modify yourself or pay for a service that can do it for you.

Here is one company that I found but have no experience with:

    Stegen Electronics/Multi region
