As I recall there was at least one thread like this but was that on the old forum?

Well as I'm a recently new Beosystem 6500 owner I would like to hear your thoughts of the ideal way to stack it.

The system has the following units:

Beomaster 6500

Beocord 6500

Beogram CD 6500

Beocord 5500

Beogram
Beomaster
Beogram CD
Beocord

The amplifier is often put nearer the top as it can stop them overheating if you're playing at very high volumes. I've not had any problems with this, and would keep mine in bottom if I had four units to stack (I only have two). If you can keep the amp on bottom (ie, you don't listen at high volumes much, you're driving active speakers or something large/easy to drive) then I would.

I had my 5000 system 2+2 with Beomaster on top of Beocord, and Beogram on top of Beogram.

As you have 2 beocords I would place these at the bottom with CD above & finally the Beomaster on top - as Alex said due to the heat generated if giving it some whelly.

If you put the Beomaster at the bottom, you can't easily get at the sockets. The others can go wherever you wish.

It's nearly like that at the moment.

I just have to move the Beocord 5500 a bit lower.

The Beocord 5500 was an afterthought as I ran into it in a secondhand store. Cheap, very good condition and working 100%. I could not say no.

I use Beovox S80.2 until I get enough cash for a pair of Beolab Penta MKIII. There is such a pair in a shop here and they are very cool.

Volume is not on high side but I will put the Beomaster 6500 near the top.

My 7000 used to be stacked 2+2, Beogram on top of Beomaster and Beogram CD on top of Beocord. Unfortunately my Beocord 7000 is broken and I will get a new on at some point. Right now it's Beogram, Beogram CD and Beomaster. I never play at high volume by the way.

Mine is in a 4 high stack at the moment (BG5000 on top, BM5000, CD50, BC5000) although I always preferred the 2x2 layout when we had the bench space. I've never seen a 4x1 (akin to a 4500 system) but it'd be interesting if you had the space.

I like it in two stacks! Forgive the wires - these were edited out for Becentral!

Since there is not a Beogram, I would have the Beomaster on top so as to get to the connections easily.
The others are unimportant I believe. Though, aesthatically, I would keep the Beocords together.

Agree with that, Peter - and it's smart to put the Beomaster on top of the CD-player. Putting weight on the CD-player helps reduce any vibrations in that unit. This is in my home-office.

From bottom to top, mine are cord, CD, master and obviously gram on the top

If I had the space, I'd lay them all flat though. I have actually entertained the thought of building a wall shelf to take them like that (as invisible as possible, like the Beogram shelves are).

Mine is a 2+2 setup with the beocord and beogram cd on the bottom and the beomaster and beogram deck on top.

I had to put the beomaster on top as it was getting fairly hot in mcl setup.

Love to see other peoples pics of their setups  and I'll try to post one later myself ...

Love that setup and you are right I'll try to put the beomaster on top of my cd player and see if it helps as my 6500 cd player is temperamental at best.

Gosh! This corner has changed over the past couple of years!

Actually when I had my 7000 set up, I had two Beocords on the bottom, the BeogramCD and the Beomaster on top and the Beogram LP on the wall bracket.

Beogram on top, the BM 7000 then casette player with the CD at the bottom - from memory I will now go and check (I was right)!  The reason to have the casette player one up from the bottom is to stop it knocking things off when opening it!  The CD player is only 1/3 of the width and slightly higher so it does not knock a record cleaning cloth off when opening! 

I have always stacked them this way since my first BM 5000 system back in 1985!

This is also the way that nearly all the catalgoues show them (when stacked 1 above the other).

I dug out a Beosystem 5000 promotional  brochure that shows them stacked  in a variety of ways 1 1 2 (record deck on top), 2 1 1 (record deck at end), 1 3 (tape deck on tis own), 4 in a row (though the photo cut out at 3.25!) and also as two pairs with space between! 

Interestingly the stack of 4 was BM, BC, CD50 and BG - but then these are photos for publicity rather than the real world with furnitre etc.

The B&O recommended way from the top down for the 5000 system is:

Beogram 5000

Beomaster 5000

Beogram CD50

Beocord 5000.

It allows you to have all the units open but still easily access all the sources! The 5500 system rather spoilt this by the cassette being directly under the CD tray of the CD50, but this was rectified when the CD5500 was released as the tray moved to the other side!

I used to have my 7000 on a large sideboard, and sometimes I'd rearrange the system. In fact, I think it looks stunning in 1x4, 2x2 and 4x1 combinations, each combination has its own visual advantages :-)

Nowadays the 7000 is placed on a tiny table, so 1x4 is the only option (see photo (yes, I really have to do something about that cable mess, haha)). As you can see, I have placed the beomaster between the beocord and the beograms, I think the displays line up really nice that way (see photo).

Here is a recent picture. I think in order for the finish of the Beocord 5500 it will take the space at the bottom.

Yes I still got my Attyca II but one reason for the 6500 system was to save on space. My Beosystem 6000 and 8000 takes enough allready.

I might go with the stand designet for the 6500 someday and I think the Attyca will be sold.

This is a really beautiful space and a great combination of new and classic.

Why are there so many pictures of wires being exposed though? It spoils the aesthetics of the beosystem... big time

Oh, I agree. In my case it's only a matter of time - I've made a kind of cable trap to hide the cables underneath the table leaving only one powercord and the speaker cable visible (but all put in one tube), I just haven't attached it to the table yet (I have to find a way to attach it without altering the vintage table)

Funny you should mention that, I've just (last week) purchased a Beosystem 6500 from eBay to look into making wall bracket sets for the whole system.  I currently have a house full of toddlers (well one, but she seems like a house full at times!) with sticky fingers and I would prefer to keep everything up on the wall out of harm's way.

I suspect that my initial Beogram wall bracket design will need a few alterations to make it suitable for housing any of the four items from a Beosystem 5000/5500/6500/7000 set, as weights and mounting points vary greatly.
