  • Re: OK, so now what? - Beogram 4000

Well the spare unit is up and running - playing an old Elton John album as I write - sounds great and I'm sure that the stylus is not even at its best. Managed to fit the control plate back in properly while I was in there. But my technical messing about stops here! Sounds great, looks superb! Cheers for now

Great, Farnborough is perfect as I work round there! I've sent him an email via Beocentral and will wait for his reply. Don't think that there's much wrong. But ironically, I've just put the spare unit back together and it seems to work well. Fingers crossed!

Well - the spare unit seems to be working which is ironic isn't it? As in you power it up and press 'ON' and it goes across and drops the needle, you get sound and pressing 'OFF' picks up the needle, moves the assembly to park position. The 'main' unit still spins the platter as soon as the power is switched on and 'OFF'

Maidenhead. Is the arm band the rubber band that drives the arms from two wheels? If so, it wasn't on - just put it back on and will try again. But I still reckon a service wouldn't go amiss...

Hmm, arm belt - not sure that it does. Should you be able to move the arm assembly by hand? I have a unit for 'spares' that you can't move the arms on so I'm not sure what is correct. I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to get the unit serviced to make sure that it all performs as it should - not something that I would attempt

  • OK, so now what? - Beogram 4000

Hi Following my previous post, I've put the Beogram 4000 together - this involved the following: Turning the transport screws on the bottom to 'Play' Loosening the front wood surround Removing the deck chassis Putting the belt on Replacing the deck chassis Connecting it all up to the amp When I switched the power on the light on the first

Hi all Wow, what a response! Thanks for all the advice everyone - I have found a din-phono converter on Ebay that has an earth lead and it was only a few £ so I'll try that first. I don't really want to get into spending loads on a cable until I know the main unit is sound. I'm not particularly technically competent but I think I can

Hi Thanks for the welcome and the product page was one of the main things that turned me on to the Beogram 4000! I had read some of the horror stories on this forum about units getting trashed in transit so I was very particular with the seller. Lets hope that it works as well as it looks! Cheers

  • Hello and a bit of advice on Beogram 4000

Hi all Found this fascinating forum whilst in the process of looking for a new turntable - got extremely taken by the look and spec of the Beogram 4000 and found one on Ebay...now its mine. I have a couple of questions - the unit was delivered to me in its component pieces - as in the platter was off and in a separate wrapper and the tonearms protected
