  • Re: What is your favorite watch?

Had this for a while.. Of all mechanical watches, my favourite.. though as it turns out I'd rather not have a lump of metal on my arm, and besides I can usually guess the time within a few minutes!

  • Re: Beogram 8000 / Beomaster 8000 issues

Hi Peter thanks for the reply! I could be wrong, but I don't think the original owner had had the original caps etc changed when I received the system circa 2001. Of course, for any hifi equipment of this vintage, that is not an ideal situation - thus my suspicion that they may be at the heart of the problems I am experiencing. As for the fuse,

  • Beogram 8000 / Beomaster 8000 issues

Hi folks, I have a Beogram 8000 which was working perfectly, but now does absolutely nothing when plugged in. I'm guessing the fuse is a likely candidate. Can anybody tell me where it is located? Also have the Beogmaster 8000. Again this was working, now on power up produces sound from one channel momentarily which quickly dies out. [Same output

  • Re: DIY Proector Bulb

I also have a projector with a dead bulb. I wish you luck selling yours, but it seems to me few people are prepared to buy such equipment, presumably because they can't see the thing working and check it for other faults. This HP model I have still retails for £1500, (somewhat inflated figure IMO), but sans bulb, looking at ebay sales, I think

  • Re: Dissatisfaction with Beolab Penta2

B&O have never been at the cutting edge of speaker design wrt sound quality (excluding the daleks.. which *are* excellent, but at a premium). If you can find a pair, the JM Lab 905 will blow you away. One of their more affordable models, but trickle-down technology from their more expensive series means you get *very* close to a Utopia at a fraction

  • Re: A8 headphone cable needs repair...

Thanks Russ - I really appreciate knowing this as I was about to dissect them! The A8s were a gift (UK), under 3yrs old and I have all the packing, but sadly no receipt so no proof of purchase. I will contact a dealer anyway, to see if they are prepared to help me out. Fingers crossed! The only abuse they suffered is being loved so much they were used

  • Re: Suggestions for 8000 system (request for advice.. not an advertisment!!)

Thanks for the responses. I'm a little unsure how to proceed, but I'm not rich so I guess it boils down to cost. I didn't really use the tape or vinyl much (yes MM cart), so after I've copied my old material they may aswell go. I'm a little surprised at how little these pieces fetch, as I still find the design, interface, and innovative

  • A8 headphone cable needs repair...

I have some of these really great headphones, but the measly cable has an intermittent connection (break) right near the jack. Before I attempt to repair, can anyone tell me what the cable is like inside, and suggest a good replacement plug that is a good quality and fit for the cable? Best Regards, Paul

  • Suggestions for 8000 system (request for advice.. not an advertisment!!)

Hi folks, I have a near complete 8000 series (Beomaster, cord, gram, remote, vox, owners handbook, schematics etc) I do not have the cabinet or speaker stands. I had hoped, for historical purposes, to keep the system complete, and one day in the future, be nice to see it in a hifi or design museum - these seem to me to be iconic pieces, classics, and
