Hi there Thsi should be easy to fix, there are loads of posts on the 4000 series and alo good manuals to access. If you don't have any success I will help you. Im sure you will get this sorted out on a great turtable, good find. Incidently how much did you get it for? Cheers kevin
-
Hi there Jeff Did you get any further forward with your BG 4000? Cheers Kev
-
Hi Simon I have both Linear and radial tracking turtables by B&O, i never use the radial one's at all. Id say after using a number of different linear turtables by B&O i have my favourites, but it comes down to how good your stylus is, which I have a number of and I notice the difference between them from MMC 20CL to MMC 3000 etc when on
-
Oh Dear Jeff,,have you contacted Frede, he may give you some pointers on what that could be, sorry to hear that your BG4000 has developed this problem, keep me posted Kev
-
Hi Jeff I am waiting on a reply from Soundsmith nothing as yet, but its just how far can they go in the re-build, one of your channels is out, I wonder what they could/would do for that? I think also the pricing is good if they can re-use the MMC4 cartriges, Chris mentioned the suspension going due to age I am curious to know what they can do in these
-
Hi There I have just seen your post, I have been for a long while been looking into the best way to restore plastics, Piaf has mentioned Micro-mesh and we have been discussing this in other posts. I have been in negotiations with the company that produce Micro-mesh about the products and they offered me a post of becoming a private seller with them
-
Hi Chris I checked with Soundsmith website and they do replace the cantilever on original cartriges for less cost than buying their own model, a replacement ruby cantilever and nude contact line diamond on an MMC 4 same as smmc 2($529.95) would cost $250. I have sent them an e-mail to query this. I am really tempted as is my new B&O converted buddy
-
Hi Chris Do you know of anyone that has sent their MMC range for re-tiping or a new cantilever etc from Soundsmith? I am considering sending a broken MMC 4 to them. I assume that they deal with the suspension etc when it is taken apart by their engineer Peter. I just done know how they get into these as I cant see any way of taking them apart, any knowledge

Hi Craig I realised I said adjustment of solenoid, when I meant moving the diaphragm by lossening screw at base and moving this left and right slightly, its in the Beogram 4002-4004 manual sect 3-5 Hope you got this sorted! Cheers Kevin
-
Oh Craig I forgot to mention the solenoid adjustment at the base of the tone arm can be very tricky to adjust but there are loads of threads on Beoworld describing this, the slightest movement left or right can make the arm track backwards it seems or scanning towards the centre. It may be that you can do tiny adjustments to this until it tracks better
