No excuse for the appalling service I know, but when you told the sales you were only a visitor he clearly saw 'time waster' stamped on your forehead. I repeat this is no excuse for the standard of service you received or the dreadful lack of information or facts he seemed to possess, but as, in his opinion, you were never going to buy anything

A long-time close friend of mine and fellow B&O enthusiast has just purchased a full 5500 system via eBay. He used to own a 5000 system in the 1980s and always regretted selling it. Not answering your question, so apologies, but isn't it strange how the 'thing' is still referred to as a STB (set-top box)? With flat screens, who sits the box on top of the TV? Shouldn't it be called a bsb - a below set box? Or perhaps just a box. Just a thought!

Can't help with a copy of the CD, but I presume you have tried cleaning it? This can sometimes work enough to rip the album to the PC and burn a copy. Also, there are I believe CD programs for the PC which claim to recover damaged discs. I've never tried them, but perhaps worth a try.
