  • Re: Beolab 9 vs B&W 802d - 805d

Hello Alex - It's funny my name is also Alex. Anyway I will like to comment on your view that B&W is more focused on time-domain distortion as compared to Beolabs. If you look at the measurements of Beolab5s you will realize there that it has a perfect time response. It is far easier and way more affordable to correct alignment problems of speaker

  • Re: BS9000 VS Mac Mini on Beolab 5

No idea how the processing is done but the output will be native. There are no adding of bits done when you switch the upsampling off. Anyway any music enthusiast owning itunes owe it to themselves to at least give the software a try. Listening nearfield my computer desktop system with beolab 3s is in every parameter better than my audiophile setup

  • Re: BS9000 VS Mac Mini on Beolab 5

Install Pure Music software into the Mac mini and you will transform your mini into a transport that is beyond reproach though make sure you install enough RAM into the mini, I am running my Imac with 16Gb of RAM and set the Pure Music to use 1.5GB of buffer RAM under Pure memory player mode. The results and differences are beyond words. Try setting

  • Re: $6m Home Setup

That set up of his is so cluttered I wonder how he able to set himself in a mood to relax and watch a movie. I mean come on, no one is that impervious to the influence of the aesthetic. For that money, I would go for Goldmund. http://www.goldmund.com/media_room

  • Re: Beolab 11 launched.

The woofers i the BL7.1 are pushed to its limits whereas the BL11 less so. Check on the SPL to see which one has a bigger headroom. A bigger headroom means lower distortion at normal listening levels. High end loudspeakers are about the overall specs which include SPL,distortion, dispersion, response smoothness, power response, impulse response, resonance

  • Time for new amplification

It's been a while since the Icepower amplification division has been set up by B&O. They promise of a real digital amp but it has been almost ten years and it is still not out. Now that Zetex semiconductor partnered with Nad has produced a digital amp that is at the very cutting edge of performance, price and convenience, isn't B&O worried

  • Re: BeoLab 5 - design up to date?

What they need is an internal component upgrade and not a design upgrade. Design wise I still love them.

  • Re: do i lose something if i change bl8000 to bl3 + my system and home photo

I just have to say. I love your sense of decorating. Superb! I prefer the Beolab3s look over the Beolab 8000s anytime and I think they are in some way more accurate too. Go for the Beolab 3s!

  • Re: dont buy beo lab 5 or beovision 9

Really? I didn't know that about the Beolab5s. Thought they should be rock solid because they certainly look the part. Well Meridian latest line of speakers with their latest apodizing digital filters installed have won critical acclaim and unlike their previous incarnations, they sound utterly amazing.

  • Re: Best source for BeoLab5?

Very unlike B&O's own Beosound 5, most of the HD servers out there works just like a cd player. No complications there. Plus you immediately get album/ track details and artwork once you hook it them up to the internet. Lab results and general audiophile consensus have come to a conclusion that memory/hard disk players are clearly superior so
