I have had an AV 5 for some years and it played back VCD like a charm. Besides from the short palyback time of the CDV format due to the used encoding (MPEG1) I can only but recommend the set. Do play around with the formats settings some though when burning your CDVs: there are encoders that offer additional compression and features like chapters etc

This may sound like a weird question for the professional - though I wonder: What's the screen resolution I see when feeding RGB into my non-HD BV 5? Reason for asking is that the picture appears so much better when fed e.g. from AppleTV (via component-RGB bridge) than SD television ... therefore I wonder whether the screen would make use of the

Hello Keith, Thanks for your reply. OK - here's the story: the electrician did not call me when he ran out of masterlink - but used a powerlink cable (4 wires) instead for the kitchen. (Needless to say I found out about that when all flooring was laid and walls were done) Now that's bad - but since I only want to have an MX in the kitchen, I

Since in our kitchen a wrong cable has been put into the wall I have to do with less than the required 7 wires. Now looking at the specification I noticed that two wires I will definately not need for my Beolink Video: The sound FROM the TV to the Beocenter. Does anyone know whether this pair is called OUTPUT or INPUT in the Masterlink Handbook? And

Thanks for the detailed reply. Now it seems that the BV5 unfortunately is neither like the 7 nor the Avant: I could add an IR blaster to the BV5 - but I have no chance of asigning this to a piece of hardware connected to the HDR1 ... In the connections menu I have three entries (for each scart sockets one): Vtape, AV & Decoder. Under Vtape it reads

Peter : The RDS is actually pretty poor as it only appears in the blue screen but none the less, I would go for the 7000 as it is the newest. Just got mine back and very pleased with it. I have heard that complaint about the placing of the RDS info quite a lot - and I agree that it is not the best of options - but when you have lot of stations to tune

This will not be the answer you eventually look for - but how about operation that while the BL7000 stays on the charger?

I am using the UK version in Germany with no problem, by the way (but that doesnt say you should try with an EU version in the US :-)
