  • Re: Replacing Cassette Tape head

Magnetic materials exhibit a behaviour called magentic hysteresis. It takes a certain amount of energy before you can even begin to impose changes in the magnetic layout of the tape, and if you tried to put a an analogue signal onto this tape, then you would slice off part of the signal and it would sound distorted. What you do is to sit your analogue

  • Re: Replacing Cassette Tape head

If the heads are of very tight specifications, so that the quality is uniform, then you can get away with taking one from another similar machine. I expect B&O tape heads to be good quality and so have a uniform operation, but I would still be inclined to set up the head bias - but for most folks it probably would not be too important. If you go

  • Re: Beocord 1600 : Magical missing capacitors!

It's really just the electrolytics that need replacement, other types last much longer, disc ceramics can be found in equipment well over 50 year old and they still function perfectly. The only other ones that might of concern are tantalum capacitors, they are usually more reliable than electrolytics, although I have known them to fail.Even so,

  • Re: The ultimate track for B&O?

Equinoxe - Jean Michel Jarre. Brings out the drama in any system, lousy as a low bitrate mp3 though. Delerium - Capercaillie - the whole album is a good test of detail and balance, best known track is 'Waiting for the wheel to turn'. If you want to test out your Lab9's then you'll want a voice with intimacy, something like 'Dusty

They are young, sport can be a hard life and the rewards can be huge for the few who get to the top. Anyway, its a shame that the latest drug scandal is clouding Cavendish's victory. ....and he did it again, that puts him in very good company, 4 stage wins in one tour.

  • Re: Ice power not quite there yet.

There is also another factor. If the demo music is from a CD, there is a problem with too high source sound levels. On a CD, or other digital media, the sound setting is seperate to the actual music information. On many digital sources, this sound setting is set too high for the digital media to cope with, the effect can either be distortion or it can

Looks like that extra leg ( Isle of Man) is helping our sprinter take his third stage, he just hit the front and his mere physical presence made the other sprinter give up, now that's what you call out psyching the opposition.

  • Type K loudspeakers

I'm in the process of refurbishing a pair of Type K loudspeakers, nearly done, however the values of the crossover resistors appears to have changed. I managed to make out that one resistor is meant to be 2.2 Ohm, they measure 1.8 ohm in one speaker - so this is probably going short and the one in the other speaker is 2.6 Ohm, no problem I'll

  • Recone, Huddersfield

Havng a few days off work, I thought I'd use a couple of them to take some speakers over to Huddersfield for the surrounds reworking. Unfortunately the operation has been closed down for now, the chap says he may reopen in a few months time. He said that it doesn't make much money, more a labour of love, so I guess I wait to see what happens

  • Re: Beomaster 6000 Quad Speaker Choice

If you are not worried about keepoing the correct date speakers, then a good substitute would be a couple of sets of RL60's - wall mounting, you may need to do some work on the speakers as some have a tendency to foam rot, and the bass thing can also rot out, however you can pick these up at a good price.
