It is a digital motion compensation for sharp motion reproduction, and does so in quite a few cases - but objects that move, especially while the camera is moving too, will get this funny outline that we all learned to dislike with the old Avant and the BeoVision 3. I do not belive there was something wrong with his set. B&O haven't spent as much time on Film Mode as they should have, a slightly altered Philips invention that is okay on a cheap tv - not on something like the BV7. The BeoSystem 3 sorts this out in an excellent way, but you will have to find room for a big (50") screen. And the comment

As Peter said; there's nothing wrong with the DVD player - the Film Mode will add effects that I do not like either, and it is a B&O TV thing. In fact, the Film Mode is reason enough to upgrade to the BeoSystem 3 for some. Roger
