A reasonable explanation of what it's all about.

Rear channel 5.1 stuff tends to be limited bandwidth (unless Dolby True HD or DTS MA). In that case Bl 3's are ideal as rears in your case, they have the most flexible mounting options, they have ALT which gives broad horizontal dispersion, with limited vertical spread and can easily handle rear channel audio bandwidth. I can't see any benefit

No increase in bit depth, no increase in sample rate, no reduction in compression ratio - still 256kbps VBR. They claim improvement since the compressed file is generated from a 24bit 96KHz master and that it is tweaked for the "intended listening enviroment" i.e. iPods etc. I agree with mbee, it certainly shouldn't be used as the basis

Most new TV's with internet connectivity will play iPlayer direct from the TV, certainly my Panny G20 does and it's a couple of years old now. Also, as an aside, I believe the iPlayer and the ITV equivalents are coming very shortly to Sky Anytime+ (as well as a pay on demand movie service).
