Many thanks for your quick and thorough reply Martin. I don't doubt pro refoamers are worth their cost. There is however an additional cost for shipping the speakers back and forth (to Denmark?) and there is also hassle with packaging them, risk of damage in shipping etc. I'm quite experienced in precision mechanics, electronics soldering etc

I got a pair of CX50 and a pair of CX100 that need refoaming. A couple of questions: 1. Dillen talks about shimming the coils. How do you do that, exactly? 2. White glue seems to be recommended for glueing the rings but does that really stick to the metal frame? My idea is to use Casco water-based contact glue. This doesn't dry as quickly as traditional

On my Beomaster 901 one of the channels is weak when using the tape input. When I press the mono button I get full volume in both speakers. I guess a DC blocking cap at the tape input has dried out. I'll have to look at it when I have time.

I bought a Beomaster 1100 (very cheaply) that was supposed to have a problem with the radio. When I powered it up however, one of the 0,39 ohm resistors between the output transistors "let out it's magic smoke". So something is wrong with one of the power amplifiers. I noticed that the previous owner had replaced the three large capacitors

If it uses the same motor as the Beogram 120x and 2000, you will need to treat the motor bearings with new oil. Otherwise the turtable will spin too slowly. Reoiling the sintered bearings is done by cooking them in oil under vacuum.

If it has station presets, it is most likely voltage tuned. Because that would be very hard to do with variable caps.

I recently bought a Beomaster 901 for next to nothing and after investigation I found the following faults: Tuning lamps burnt out One rubber foot missing Minor scratches on the front panel. The light bulbs for the tuning indicator are so-called wedge lamps of the type W2x4.6d 12-15 volts 30 mA. Note that the bulb for the stereo indicator looks identical

Years ago I used to have a Beogram 4002 with the quadraphonic pickup, I think it was a MMC6000. While this pickup yielded excellent sound quality, it was extremely sensitive to the quality of the record pressing. Some records that sounded totally OK on another system, sounded awful with this pickup. I returned several records to the store for a replacement
I can't understand from the circuit why the potentiometers are different values
If they're connected as voltage dividers, the resistance value isn't critical. Maybe they just used what they had a good supply of?
