  • Re: Soundsmith vs B&O MMC cart

True, he may have dulled down the conversation for me. I did hear a distinct difference between the two. I look forward to mine arriving this week. I think the jist was that the originals are great and so are the SMMC's. I will report back as I am very familiar with my current cart. It just seems like the high side is dull, and the low is somewhat

  • Soundsmith vs B&O MMC cart

In no way am I affiliated with SS. While at the Rocky mountain audio fest last october I had a chance to meet with the soundsmith guys in there booth/room. I was very impressed with their setup and their williness to anwser questions regarding B&O TT's. I secretly hoped that they had a few B&O SMMC for sale, unfortunatly they did not. However

  • Re: RX-2 service procedures

Are these any different than the ones located on vinyl engine? Don't get me wrong, its not that I wouldn't want to support the site, just curious.

  • RX-2 service procedures

Hello, I am eagerly awaiting my SMMC4 for my rx2 TT. Is there any good link or manual for completing a service on this unit. Id like to re-oil the motor, clean any contacts and possibly check to make sure that the belt is not stretched. THe TT is in great shape however it is going on 20yrs old and I'd like to do some preventative maintenance. John

  • SMMC4 and a broken heart

I was able to find a SMMC4 locally through Craigslist. Owners tT had internal issues, that the cart did not fix. Now I hooked it up and am getting some noticeable distortion in the right channel. I noticed that the lever was to natuaraly sit a little to the side, the suspension seems to be fine, possibly sat on its side for quite some time. is there

  • Re: Beogram RX-2 and Soundsmith carts

I totally understand the 50hrz and down thing, but my dealer was saying that it actually cuts off lower frequencies abruptly. I used a RtA and can see that the player is indeed pushing freqs below 60hrz. One issue I discovered is that my harmon avr-247, which Im basicly using as a pre-amp, has a setting for large speakers, the issue is that the crossover

Thank you for the replies, my local dealer mentioned that B&o turntables had issues producing sounds under 50hrz, but Im dismissing this as nonsnese. I would like to see some more low end, and Im suspecting my AVR possibly not sending through the entire range, or older parasound pph-100 phone pre, but I dont want to get too crazy. I will give the

  • Re: RX2+mmc4=snap crackle pop.

Long and short, since the original email, this issue is with old used records, All newer records sound great and the pop and hiss is absent with most newer albums, very nice sound. Im very happy now, Id like to get a SMMC4 soundsmith, but am wondering if I should just buy another player, rega 1 or see what these new carteridges can do, any feedback
