  • Re: Dead S45 woofers

Whoa! I know what I wrote earlier was probably a boring read, but an M8A woofer is totally NOT suited for an S45! It's aluminum cone will ring like a bell and the shallow transfer function of the S45 crossover will never filter that out. The mids will certainly be horribly colored if you use that driver. Also, the driver's Fs is not the sole

Just happened to see this on Ebay, don't know if it's the right one, but if it is...: http://cgi.ebay.com/Woofer-from-a-Bang-Olufsen-Beovox-S45-Speaker-System_W0QQitemZ190371198438QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item2c5301f5e6&BackToListReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fmy.ebay.com%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FMyEbayBeta

I'll say one more thing here. Speakerbuilding is one of my hobbies, and I know not everyone cares to get as wrapped up in it as I do, but hopefully this will be beneficial to you. I would re-cone your OEM drivers if I were you. B&O Uniphase speakers are designed a particular way - to have as small an amount of phase shift as is possible (all

Both Peerless and Vifa are now made in China. However, I would expect that they still have excellent quality control, and the two Peerless drivers I mentioned are indeed built very nicely. Yeah, I bought Peerless partly because I wanted to keep it Danish, but apparently they had moved production by the time I got mine. If you want to keep it truly Danish

You can try to send them somewhere to have them re-coned, which will involve the tedious process of re-centering the magnet structure. If you don't want to go that route, then you can wait for a good set of woofers, or cheap complete S45's, to come up for sale. If you use a different kind of driver, all bets will then be off. It may sound good

  • Re: What's playing RIGHT NOW?

Now is The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex's "Life Begins Again". Excellent album, IMO. This is the former Smashing Pumpkins' drummer's new project. Just got through with Chad Wackerman's "Forty Reasons", also an awesome album. Jon

  • Re: Beogram 8000 'vs Beogram 8002

Well, in my experience... I had an 8002, and went through 3 original MMC2 cartridges over it's life (original one gave out after 25 years [it was my Dad's system originally - given to me as a gift], first NOS one I bought from B&O turned out to be defective after a week, and the second NOS was good). It was used with a BM6000, and Beovox

  • Re: Help with Beomaster 8000 (digital noise)

Huh! Interesting posts. I read all the time about Burr Brown chips having a characteristic dark sound, and was thinking about swapping in some OPA2132's to get a more laid back sound from the BM. From the research I've done, B&O used some pretty nice OpAmps for ~1980, maybe I should re-think replacing them.... I definitely wouldn't want

  • Re: Beomaster 4500 won't power on...

The very first thing I'd check is the fuse, to see if it's blown. Believe me - someone somewhere CAN fix your B&O. I didn't look to see where you were located at...member Dillen is in Denmark if you're in Europe, and Soundsmith is in New York, USA, just to throw out a couple of options for you. Either one would almost definitely

Turned the Beomaster 8000 up to 5, and let the MS150's and S80.2's rattle the fireplace with Photek's "Form and Function", track number 12 - "UFO".
