Spoke with seller again. If arm manually placed on record, sound works so cartridge/stylus ok. The problem is just that the unit shuts off after a 5-10 seconds.

It is just dust on the platter. Also, the entire unit is silver, it is just the angle of the pic. I verified all of this with seller.

Hi, I am looking at getting this complete Beosystem 6500 on ebay but the TT has an issue. I spoke with the seller and he said that he tested the unit and it powered up but the arm didn't move. Then, the Beogram 6500 shut off about 5-10 seconds later. Any ideas as to what is wrong with it? Does anyone still repair these? It has the MMC2 cartridge
