Did you ever figure out your issue? I would be interested in purchasing your broken 8000 if you didn't get it working.

Building home theater and value the input. Current setup listed below. Run the B & O speakers from the pre amp out of the receiver/line in of the speakers. I'm looking for a center channel. I just purchased a set of BeoLab 8000's on ebay, they should be arriving this week. I want to inspect them thoroughly before providing feedback/paying. Instead of trying to figure it out I thought I would ask, how do you remove the grill fabric? Thanks for your help.
