  • Re: Mains cable for Beogram 4000

Yes i see your point. The cable i had chosen was only £10 for a couple of metres anyway. Im sure the difference cant be heard really with much more expensive cable. What kind of cable would you use for the signal cable? Tom

  • Mains cable for Beogram 4000

Hi, Just trying to get my Beogram 4000 in top notch condition. The Mains lead has been cut down many times by previous users as it is about 6 inches long now. I was thinking of replacing the mains lead becasue of this as well as the RCA lead as this has been converted to standard RCA connectors and botched quite badly. Any advice? I was thinking of

Sorry i should have been clearer, the green all over the insidde was bits of the decayed band. Ive attached a pic of what it was like, although i had removed the green bits by then. Is it easy to get replacement belts locally or should i enquire via this site? http://i1042.photobucket.com/albums/b424/ifoldaway/Green-band.jpg

Ill have to have a check to see how it spins and get back to you. I think the belt was slipping making the noise. It also explained why it ran smoothly sometimes as this was when it wasnt slipping. I think i may still strip it down though as it must be getting on and i have all the equipment ready. Are there any other motors that would benefit from

Hi I had a go and it seems that it wasnt the motor but the belt. When i removed the top panels i notided lots of green rubber everywhere and a very worn belt. I replaced it with a band i had that was the same size(with much more tension) and it is now running like a dream. Do you think it is still worth stripping the motor? Also, do i need a specialist

Sounds like an ideal christmas project! I will give this a go, any advice once i have removed the motor? Should i completely strip the motor or just apply oil in key places. Is wd40 any good or should it be specialist fine oil? Just saying as i have some here with me. If its a strip down, is there any detailed instructions or a video anywhere to act

Cheers for the swift advice. The sound doesn come andd go a bit , so i would hope i can try and fix it before looking for a replacement. I have the service manual but having never taken the turntable to pieces before, would you say its an easy job? How difficult is it to remove the motor and place back in? If its something that should in no way be touche
