So the SHIFT +TV would be the answer here... except the shift button seems to be kaput (I presume it should emit an IR signal when pressed, like all the other buttons. Mine doesn't, for some reason). Many thanks guys. I can't make it work though. According to the manual, to activate the aux 1 without a TV picture (which is what I want to do ideally) I just switch on the TV with the Aux button (i.e. SHIFT + TV).
