  • MX4000 Remote Control

Hi, I've just secured a nice MX4000 for a good price, but its got no remote. From what I understand, a Beolink 1000 is the best choice for value (or a v / av terminal). Is there any particular version I should look out for to be able to fully control this set? Also, on a side note, do the speakers in the MX4000 suffer from foam rot? Thanks!

  • Re: Should I buy... Beolab Penta

Well I took the plunge.... I should have my 'new' pentas by Friday. I don't think the price was too bad, it seems to be about what they sell for on ebay + they are being delivered to me! Does anybody have any spare speakerlink cables, or a source of the 4 pin DIN plugs so I can make some up? Cheers, Ben.

I would probably just change the foam surrounds. I've done several before (CX100, CX50, M75 + several none B&O speakers), so i'm not put off by that. I can get all 8 surrounds for about £40. The seller also travels near to where I live regularly, so I don't have to worry about picking them up from miles away. Whilst £200

  • Should I buy... Beolab Penta

I've been offered a pair for a tad under £400. They are Penta 1's, so likely to have foam rot (I have replaced rotten foam before). They have some very small dents in the stainless, but otherwise good order. They have been owned by an elderly female since new, and have seen little use over the years. Does the foam rot just effect the mid

  • Re: Beocord 5000 (4922) no playback/record

Hi Martin Thanks for your words of encouragement. I got my old 'scope out of storage and found that the signal was getting lost on the Dolby PCB, underneath the main PCB. I traced the fault to the HA12038 Dolby IC's. They weren't outputting the 7v signal. The only common component on the 7v line is C3, 220u 10v capacitor. This had failed

  • Beocord 5000 (4922) no playback/record

I have the 1980's beocord (4922 I believe) which developed a couple of faults when I came to use it recently; There is very feint distorted playback heard through one channel when I crank the volume up. The VU meter for that channel shows the first level flickering. Upon recording, no level is shown through the meters even when the record level
