    Beolab Penta 3: 7 or 8 pins?

    Hello,

I've just bought a Beosystem 7000 together with a pair of Beolab Penta third generation, and I'm very satisfied with it.

Here is my question: the cables (between the Pentas and the Beomaster 7000) that were provided by the seller have regular 7-pin DIN sockets. However, I can see in the manual that there can be up to eight pins.

What a difference does this 8th pin makes (the one in the center of the socket)? I feel the sound is great already, and the display work just fine... Should I be getting 8pin DIN sockets?

    Any insight welcome!

    Thanks!

7 pin is datalink cable (link cable) 8 pin Is power link (Speaker cable). Both works fine, for your speakers.

The missing pin is used to tell the BS if the speaker over heats, but the amp. in the speaker has it's own heat protection. so don't know what thy use it for...
