    HDMI switchers

    Hi,

So I've seen in a few threads references to a B&O HDMI switcher.  Does anyone have a link?  And does anyone know if it'll work with any TV, just the BV7, any B&O TV?

And if there isn't one, does anyone know of one that a) looks like it belongs on the same rack as B&O gear (because, you know, aesthetics)  and b) works well?

    Re: HDMI switchers

    Hi

B&O don't manufacture or re-badge any HDMI switch,  however they have updated the software for MK1 and Mk2 BV7-32s to release 7.7.  This software will allow the BV7 to control a Gefen HDMI switch unit automatically.  I'm waiting for confirmation back from my dealer to let me know which Gefen switch it is before I look to buy one.

I think it may be this one:

    Re: HDMI switchers

    It is actually this one.

http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3278 if you need a projector as well you will also need this.Gefen 1:2 Splitter. You will also need Software 7.7 as noted, on a BV7 MKII or III. There is no BeoMedia support which someone might know a little more about.

    cheers beoaus.

    Gentlemen,

The switches are for Beovision 7 Mark II & III's only

It is now possible to connect an HDMI Expander to BeoVision 7-32 MK III and BeoVision 7-40 MK II.

The software of the Beovision 7 must be version 7.7 or higher as already stated.

The 'Gefen 4:1 switch' must be used together with the 'Gefen 1:2 splitter' in a projector setup. The splitter is only necessary in a projector setup.

A 4 page HDMI Expander Guide can be downloaded HERE

It should be noted that the HDMI Expander does not support VGA which means that you cannot use it in a setup with BeoMedia 1 as stated by Beoaus

    Regards Keith....

    Re: HDMI switchers

    Hi,

thanks for the info. I think, Greg and beoaus are both correct. You will need the 441 as a switch,  and 442 if you have a projector, because the 442 is a splitter too.
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=4341 Maybe you can use this in a setup with beomedia 1(?).

BTW: Does anybody know, if I can install the apple-tv/ipodremote ir-codes into the stb list of my BV7-40 MKII ?

    Thanks

    Stefan

you must make a software update and you must change components inside the bv7. all this can make only your b&o dealer.price € 750.--

    Hi

For MK11 BV7 with DVI in, how does the HDMI splitter actually work, can I assume the sound is inputted to the TV separately?

    Re: HDMI switchers

Just had an update that may need confirming...

The BV740 mk 11 can supposedly only handle 2 Set top boxes at any one point in time when it looks like 4 can be configured. By using the switcher you may not be able to control other STB at it uses a port..?  At the same time I was told the BV740 mk111 can handle 6!!!.

Can anyone explain, clarify or correct this?

     Thanks Beoaus.

    Re: HDMI switchers

Bv7-40 can handle 2 STBs - in DTV and V.AUX mode - but 4 IR devices. In addition to 2 stbs it can control a projector (SIM 2 or Samsung) and the Gefen HDMI switch if sw 7.7 is installed.
BV 7-40 MK III has PUC IR outputs on every AV port (AV1 - AV6). AV 4 is used by the internal DVD player. There are 2 additional PUC outputs for cinema control.

I was thinking about upgrading my BV7-40 MK II to sw 7.7 and Gefen switch but upgraded to BV7 MK III....because..
    -Beosystem 3
-much more PUCs (for STB, Mac mini, Projector)
    -Beomedia support (VGA input)
    -a better DVBS (T) module.
    -picture quality
    - nice price from my dealer

    Hope this helps

    Stefan

Is this statement correct? I was told you actually loose one of the 2, I am using two at the moment?  Also how can it control 4 IR devices if there are only 2 STB's?  Hope this is not a stupid question.

A BV7-40 MKIV is out of the question for me for a while.... I have the MKII

MKIV too. There's an option for HDMI expander selection in the menu, it's included in the documentation and my dealer suggested the HDMI expander to combat the 'problem' of two HDMI sockets being used by internal modules.

Maybe over to Keith to clarify then. ...Must admit I was surprised about the  BV7-40 MKIV, thought it would be capable of controlling 4 additional devices...

It can, but it crashes 'controlling' them, too. Latest on my MKIV is that it's having HDCP issues with my Sky box. Funny, the MKIII didn't have these HDCP issues.

When I use my Sky box with scart, no crashes. Re-connect the HDMI cable = infrequent crashing.

I was starting a new topic to know how could i connect a blu-ray via a hdmi to my BV7-40 MK II.

It is supposed to upgrade the SW and use which switch? As far as i read i didn't find how it connects to my BV7-40 MKII.

Can anyone give me a hand?

    Re: HDMI switchers

You can connect a HDMI device directly to the DVI input of your BV7-40 MKII or use a Gefen switch - connected to the DVI input.

The switch will be PUC controlled like any other IR device. You can assigne the 4 HDMI inputs to the AV ports of your BV. You will need  sw 7.7 or higher (?).

Keith posted a link to the user guide some posts above.

    Hi Pedro

You need an HDMI-DVI lead (for video) and at the very least a scart socket (for audio).

If your Blu-Ray has a Component output and your DVI is populated you can use AV4 to use component video, and stereo (which attach to the two phono inputs above the component inputs on the back of the 7-40 MK2).

    Good Luck

    Re: HDMI switchers

    I'm still confused...

I have V.AUX set to control a Panasonic DMR-BW500 and DTV to control Foxtel Digital (SKY Plus). That is the 2 PUC's on a BV7-40MKII and two i'd rather not loose.

If I bought the Gefen switch would I loose one of the above in order to control it. Or does the 7.7 software allow the Gefen switch to be used as a 3rd box that can be controlled, effectively bypassing the 2 PUC limitation?

This is the stumbling block in buying the gefen splitter.

I ran a few tests on the BV740 MKII and clearly answered the question.

The addition of the Gefen box and its configuration drops out the configuration of V.AUX. You loose one of the STB controllers. The Geffen box takes it.

Annoying... The the television has 4 IR controls, when it only controls 2 external STB's. I wonder if there is a configuration where they all can be used?
