    BV4-50/Beosystem 1 to Beovision 9 Upgrade

I have a opportunity to upgrade from my BV4-50 D6 (not upgradable to DVI)/Beosystem 1 to a Beovision 9. The upgrade would cost me ~7500 USD out of pocket assuming I can sell the BV4 for $3500 and the Beosystem 1 for $1000. Does this sound like the right time to upgrade? What would be the advantages/disadvantages?

    TIA

    Go for it!

    No disadvantages at all!

How do you get to the 7500 number? The BV9 is a 20K TV. If you can really upgrade for 7500 I would probably go for that giving that it will become more and more difficult to connect new equipment to your TV.

Sometimes bargains can be found here in the US on B and O. I purchased my Beolab 9s at 60% of list price and recently saw a Beovision 9 in a B and O store for a 60% discount...i.e. could buy for 40% of list price.

    Beovision 7-55 with Beolab 7-4, 9s and 4000s

    Beovision 10-40 with Beolab 1s and 6000s

    Beosound 1, 5, 2000, and 3000

I have never seen any B&O store discount more then 10 or 20% on demo products. Not worth. For 40 to 60% off I would buy quite few things as demo or customer returns or whatever it is.

Yes, sounds like a good deal. I love the integrated TVs like the Avant, BV5, BV9. I also think the flexibility of the BS3 with its connections would be nice, along with the built in speaker.

You didn't mention what you are using for a center channel speaker. Planning to sell that as well?

I'm with JK - find me a dealer with 40 to 60% off and I'd be a very poor man. But, I'd have a house full of B&O!

Definitely a good deal. The differences in picture are outstanding, you'll see a world of difference.

    Re: BV4-50/Beosystem 1 to Beovision 9 Upgrade

If you are willing to part with $7,500, then just do it - not just for the improved picture, but perhaps above all the improved sound. The BeoSystem 3 is so good I had to part with my BeoLab 4000 - and replace them with BeoLab 3's - as surround speakers.

You will get a lifelike picture on high quality channels (even SD), and the sound stage is just breathtaking. But, again, $7,500 is a lot of money compared to the great system you already have...

I would do it. And I'm afraid you will regret it if you don't do it: If you have lived with the BeoVision 9, then there's no going back.

OK I did it! Love my new Beovision 9. Thanks everyone. Now selling my BV4-50 and Beosystem 1 on eBay!

    Best,

Good decision. Can't go wrong with a BV9. Its a great set and growing on me all the time. Hope you get lots of pleasure from it. All the best.
