Can you tell me if this is done via HDMI in which case i presume one sets up the player as bit stream decoding?? Is it true HD sound though???  looks like DD5.17.1 to me!

The BeoSystem 3 gives you an option to choose the sound source, either SPDif or HDMI.

I'm pretty sure it supports 'uncompressed' Dolby Digital, it sounds pretty outstanding with BlueRay DVDs, which have TrueHD encoded soundtracks I believe. Noticeably better than normal DVDs...

In order to access the new hi-def audio formats, you need to plug the PS3 into ann amp which accepts LPCM audio over HDMI (most new amps will do this). That's the main limitation - although you will still get dolby digital and DTS ONLY over the optical spdif output.

it seems no one knows? we have had one comment that said playstation 3 looked good and one with reference to the panasonic BD10 which does not get good reviews and is not a profile 1.1 player and therefore does not support the format.
