    beosound 3 - playlist order

    hi,

i am the proud owner of the beosound 3 which i have equipped with a 2go sd card. i plan on using the beosound 3 for a small party and have constructed a 'playlist' in a single subdirectory on the sd card.

i assumed the songs were played in alphabetical order, so i painstakingly number the tracks in the order i wished them to play. however, the beosound 3 always starts playing at some random place, like "61 love will tear us apart" and not "01 the passion".

does anyone know how the beosound 3 'decides' which tracks to play and in what order from the sd card. any help is greatly appreciated !

    - scott

could it be, that you have switched on the random mode by accident? You turn it on by pressing a-m store, you turn it out with a-m delete. try that!

Re: beosound 3 - playlist order

    hi,

ok. i tried the a-m delete method and it effectively turns off the random mode. thanks for the heads up.

the problem i'm having is a little stranger. i can't figure out how the beosound 3 attributes track 1 of a subdirectory to a given file on the sd card. as i said, i have numbered the tracks like "001 the passion" to assure that they sort in the right order. this seems to have no effect for the beosound 3. even for sub-directories, the order is bizarre. for example, subdirectory 1 is "mix 2" and subdirectory 2 is "mix 1".

does anyone have more information on how the beosound is sorting things and attributing track numbers internally ? help !

I am not very sure about this, but I think that the folders on the sd card are read in the order they were created/ copied. If you move 3 folders to the card, it will play in third place the first folder created whatever his name is. In a folder, the songs are played in alphabetical order as far as I know.

Re: beosound 3 - playlist order

    hi,

thanks again for the information tom. yes it seems that the youngest subdirectory copied to the card becomes folder 1.

however, the songs do not seem to be played in alphabetical order. i took the time to put numbers in their titles so that they would sort 'correctly'. however, the beosound 3 plays the file "013 go" as file number 1 and then follows the order.

i also have some files that don't play. could there be some issues with the compression used, etc.

    thanks again,

if you use a mac, be sure that all files are mp3, as bs3 only plays mp3 and wma. otherwise, I have no clue.
