    9500 CD spin noise

Most of the CDs I put in my 9500 make a faint ticking noise as they spin. Loud enough to be heard during play if the music isn't heavy rock! Not all CDs, but most, and it will sometimes dissapear towards the end of the CD.

I've done a search to see if anyone has posted similar problems.

    Any ideas?

I have experienced a similar problem with my BC 9300 very early in its life. The cd-player was replaced under warranty and the problem disappeared almost completely. You can still hear the noise but only if you’re close to it. I suppose these players are never completely quiet.

    Hello,

I suppose this is little consolation but, I've had a BC9300 for something like 3 years & I've never been aware of any 'foreign' noises.  My music tastes cover the spectrum.  Keep investigating!

     Good luck

There is an adjustment on the 9500 to center the CD clamp in the arm when a disc is loaded. If this is not correct you will hear a ticking or scraping noise as the disc rotates.

    Thanks cozza,

is this a dealer adjustment thing only, or can it be done by anyone. I can't see anything in there that looks adjustable though.

    Any advice?

Can I suggest that you upgrade your membership and download the service manual. The procedure is described therein.

If you are the least bit non-mechanical then I would entrust the adjustment to a service center.

Funnily enough I was reading about this a few minutes ago for my BeoSound 9000. I will perform a camping centralising adjustment tomorrow probably. I have no idea whether or not this has previously been done.
