    A multi-region VCR & DVD combo unit

I happen to own a lot of video cassettes. By a lot, I really mean more films than I could afford to buy on DVD any time soon. I picked up dozens when stores started selling VHS tapes for £1 each to clear stocks.

I currently play my media through a Bush DVHS1, a combination dvd and vhs player and a brilliantly good unit. Unfortunately, it has three problems: I can't use it with my Beo4 remote, it does't look anywhere near as cool as my BS5500, and I can't crack it to get Region 1 dvd's on it. As I use a projector rather than a TV, I don't think I can ever buy a B&O tape cassette player, as the remote instructions ran through the cable from the tv, although if anyone can correct on this me, I'll be hugely greateful. I'm also incredibly annoyed about not being able to get various things on DVD. There's a load of DVD's (Laverne & Shirley or various American shows spring to mind) that I'd really like to pick up box sets of.

So, can anyone either correct me on the vcr thing? Or if not can anyone recommend a good unit with the same style as B&O? I'd preferably want a unit that played both DVDs and VCR tapes though I'm flexible I suppose.

You can get an external eye for some B&O VCRs. The VX5000 certainly will work.It does work best with a Beolink 1000 but will work with a Beo4 and probably a Beo5!!
