    using a beolink 1000 with a "Beo4" TV

Hi - i picked up an MX4000 (late 90s model i think) yesterday complete with motor stand and am very happy with it.

The only problem i have is that it was supplied with a Beolink 1000 (mk2 model? - it has the 'light' button) instead of the Beo4 as specified in the manual - i can't really complain as i got the tv very cheaply and it is immaculate.

Of course the manual only shows you how to operate the tv using the Beo4 remote and since the beolink 1000 does not have the same functions.

Does anyone have a translation of Beolink 1000/beo 4 commands or will i need to buy a Beo 4.

In particular i'd like to be able to operate the motor stand as at the moment i need to go into the tv main menu to work it - the manual specifies that i would normally use the LIST> STAND function on a Beo 4 - is there a way of doing this on the 1000?

also will it operate the same way in a link system? or is my remote not advanced enough?

    Did you try PICTURE + > or PICTURE + < ??

+ does not mean at once, but one button after the other...

    Hi Scott,

It really is a struggle with the Beo4 software and I suggest that you change the remote. I have a MX7000/Beo4 and I have been trying to operate it with a BL1000 and gave up in the end!

The suggestion above does not work with my MX7000 so I doubt if it will with your 4000

    Regards Graham

Or the PICTURE and the "/\" or "\/" button? It must surely work imho...

thanks for your replies everyone. unfortunately as Graham has said these combinations do not seem to work with the Beolink 1000 - looks like i will need to buy a Beo 4 then!

I don't know why the 1000 doesn't work, the theory says that it should. The 1000 also has problems storing the sound/picture config at startup. Strange but I can assure you that I have tried. I have the MX7000 up for sale and have had to put a Beo4 with it instead of a cheapie Link 1000!

For the motor stand to work you need to make sure that you connect its cable with the tv switched off for what I remember. Then you turn on the tv and this should recognize the new component.

Then press PICTURE on the beolink 1000  and you should see the word [STAND] on the screen apart from Colour, Brightness, Contrast. With < and > you can move the stand left or right. To memorize the position press STORE twice.

Hope this works. For the other operations I'm not quite sure unfortunately

That all works fine with early TV's but the later ones with Beo4 software "don't work like that" as the man in the advert says.

Why B&O has always to complicate everything? Confused

    thanks everyone for your help.

I have now spoken with Matt at Lifestyle AV and there is a Beo4 remote on its way out to me (at a very reasonable price too)
