    DVD2 region free?

    Hiyaz,

Anyone know if the DVD2 can be region hacked?  Half of my DVDs are region 1 and the rest are region 2.  It's a side effect of moving to Europe, I guess.  The DVD2 is just a nice looking, rebranded Philips.  Maybe the region hack is the same?  That would be nice since Philips DVD players are ridiculously easy to set to region-free.

It can. Use the Philips code for DVDR7300H http://www.caliban.org/mt/archives/2006/04/dvdr7300h_uncri_1.html Replace 'Play' with 'Go' on Beo4. Wait 1-2 sec. between the first 'Go' and '1' or DVD2 will treat it as the command for 'System Menu'. Watch the digits on the player's LED display as you key them in. When finished, go to standby and the next time you turn the player on it's ready.

I'll put this on site but what command do you use instead of Browser on the Beo4?

    GO + 0 = Browser Smile

The 'Browser' menu is the top-most menu on DVD2. Use 'Go' + '0' and verify that the LED on the player says 'BROWSER'.

I would be grateful for a region hack for the Mark III BV7-40 if there is anyone available. I have no idea what the Phillips model number is but if one of you does know that would be a great help. I too have 99% of my DVDs in Region 1.

    Thanks.

If 99% are Region 1, I would set it to Region 1. The DVD in the BV7 is probably a Pioneer so is not the same.

I wasn't aware I could set the region Peter?

Just checked - you will need your dealer to do this as it needs the service tool software. Shame - on the Avant, you can do it yourself!
