    Hi Keith,
if we suppose that the blank wires on the back are for the shield connection, yes they will work. I tend to recommend fully shielded ones, but haven't seen them on ebay, so go for these.

If you experience ML problems, then connect the pink and the blue/white cable at the unit where you experience problems. I had probs with my BV7 after connecting the BV1L - shortcut of pink and blue/white does the trick ;)

    Good luck

    Hi Marcus,

I'm looking for fully shielded plugs and jacks now.

Do they make a fully shielded splitter so I don't have to use a ML distribution box??

Did you ever do a play by play on this coding for wiring?? Sorry if i missed it..ie. what color to what color../?

    Thanks, Keith

    Hi Frank Rizzo

If you use the IHC/? cable we talked about some weeks ago the Pink and B/white is shortcut-ed

Re: CAT 6 STP Shielded Jacks (marcus please)

    Hi Keith,

here is the color coding I used (please check if the factory made homelink cables have the same color/pin coding!!!!):

    ML                Cat7         pin
    w/or              w/or          1
    or                 or             2
    w/gn             w/gn         3
    bl                 bl             4
    pi                 w/bl          5
    gn                gn            6
    w/rd             w/bn         7
    rd                bn            8

To be honest, my "junction boxes" are not shielded at all :o

I don't think it is necessary to look for fully shielded jacks, if you have a bad feeling with tha half shielded ones use some metal film to cover them.

    Hi Marcus, Thanks....

I thought the Shielding was a ground that was necessary to run through the entire system withouth interruption???

    Hi Keith,

yes, you're right, but the junction box must not necessarily be shielded, you can also connect the shielding gasket of the cables with some kind of terminal strip.

    Great Marcus...just 2 more questions...please...

     1) On the above description of Powerlink (MK II) to CAT 6.....which one connects to the "shielding" and drain wire???

    2) Could you post a similar schematic for Masterlink??

Marcus, you've been a life-saver on this project....

    Thanks a TON !!!  Keith

    Hi Keith,

the color table I posted is for Masterlink, not Powerlink!

For Powerlink connection I used original PL cables, so I'm sorry that I can't be of much help with this topic.

Hi again Marcus and others involved in these projects.

Marcus, I have been looking for a distribution box that is shielded. One that will take 1 input in and give 4 or 8 out to service the house. I can't find one....

Since our masterlink needs 8 wires PLUS the ground with "drain" wire....this must connect "THROUGH" the distribution box.....yes???? or am I crazy.....???

    THanks.

For the box I did use a non shielded plastic box, normaly used for house wiring. I connected the cables with small connectors type 243 from a company called wago. For the shielding of the cat7 cables I used connectors type 222. Very simple but working good ;-)

    Hi Keith,

sorry, but for Powerlink I used the B&O cables. Maybe there's another member here that has the Lexcom cables and can give some advice?

    Cheers

As Lexcom offers this system for some years now, it has to work somehow, but I don't know which wires they use to achieve a proper shielding.
