    Avant 28" Question

I have been tracking a 28" Avant on Ebay. It has a built-in VCR and have established that it is a type 8133, looking that up in the products section establishes that it is a

BeoVision Avant 50Hz MK I MK II (81xx)

I did a search earlier and it seems that some of the earlier 28" Avants are best avoided as they are prone to tube problems. Is this one of the ones I should avoid?

    Many thanks

    Re: Avant 28" Question

In Holland a dealer told that the 50 Hz tubes had the problem. So I would aim for a 100Hz, better tube, sharper image.

I bougth one myself and when you are used looking at the 100Hz, you see the flickering (is this good English?) at the 50Hz tubes.

I have a 100 Hz Avant and a 50Hz Mx 4000 and Mx 1500 and I see that the image on the Avant is much, much better.

    Re: Avant 28" Question

    hi simon,

I'd go for the 100hz instead of a 50hz for the difference is huge : it's the best picture in town !

another reason : the 50hz is older, with a more troublesome tube and my [100hz] avant has a superior picture compared to

    my [50hz] mx4000
