BeoMaster 6500 - loss of stored FM stations

    I have a complete B & O 6500 system purchased brand new and including an MCP6500.

When I try to store FM stations, assigning them the numbers I choose, eveything is fine unless I switch off the mains power when all the pre-set stations are lost. Is this likely to be a problem with the MCP6500 or the BeoMaster 6500, or am I doing something wrong?

    Kind regards,

I think the lithium battery may need replacing.

As Peter mentions, located on the processorboard inside the BM6500.

Same thought here. But the lithium cell cannot be simply popped out but is soldered on to the board.

    Hello,

I agree with others that may be a lithium cell. Other possiblity that the NV-RAM (4IC2 PCD8583) is broken.

If the battery is the problem then desolder the old, buy the battery holder for 16 or 20mm diameter (same as used on computer pcb for BIOS) and put the normal 1620 or 2016 or 2032 cell into this holder. I dit it in my beomaster 5500. The holes in the beomaster pcb were exactly as the pins of the holder. Consider polarity !
