    Beomaster 2000

Hi - can anyone please tell me if a Beogram CD4500 is compatible with a Beomaster 2000 amp - I'm sort of assuming it is but would be grateful if someone could confirm for me!!  Thank you Big Smile

    Re: Beomaster 2000

    Hi and welcome to Beoworld!

    I guess you have the Beomaster 2000 type 291X produced from 1983 to 1987 and not the Beomaster 2000 Type 2801 (1974 - 1978).

The answer is yes and no:

yes, you can connect the CD4500, but you won't have remote control. There are three ways to connect:

    - with a din to phono adapter, connected to the phono input (tape 2)

    - direct connection to the din input (tape1) but you have to remove pin 6 and 7 of your CD Din plug

    -  connection via tape/cd adapter (available from B&O http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=762 for this purpose, but rare in these days)

no, you won't have datalink connection and therefore no remote control (On later remote controls terminal 2000 you will find a CD button which fits the connection via tape / CD adapter). So you have to start your CD4500 manually.

In the old forum, there were some suggestions to connect a newer CD like CD4500 via din-plug and interchanging pin 6 and pin 7 to have real datalink connection, but i never tried.

Anyhow, both devices sound good and have a design which i like very much (Beosystem 2000 was my first B&O stereo and Beosystem 4500 is my wife's favourite).

    best regards and good luck

     David
