    Compatible turntables for Beomaster 5000

    Hi, I have just got hold of a Beomaster 5000 (awesome sound), Beogram 5000 and beocord 5000 the problem is the Beogram  has a snapped  tone arm which I may be able to repair if I can get hold of a t/arm at some point. Untill then is there any problem using any other B & O t/table or even a non B &O table ? I just decided to start using my vinyl records again. My first B & O I bought back in 1973 a beolab 1700 system I think. cheers

    Get another BG 5000 or the tangential tracking 5005 (or 5500):

    -They both were originally sold with the Beosystem 5000 and match it perfectly

    -They both will operate by remote control as part of the system

    -They're both virtually always available on eBay

    Do you still have all parts of the tonearm? If so, it's an easy fix. Been there, done that. Several times. http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/21757.aspx

    (ok, the "easy" part was a lie. Big Smile) But before you scrap the thing, I can fix those...

    Thanks for the replies lads, I'll be keeping an eye open for one on Ebay. I may have a go at repairing this one as I have all the parts but the bit at the end that the stylus plugs into has snapped also, I might have to drill out the shelac a bit to get enough wire exposed to solder toHmm. If I can get hold of a second hand part or a knacked t/table it might be easier. Thanks again for the info and advice I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers.Big Smile

    Two questions:

    Is the tonearm of the 5000 the same as the RX 2?

    Are you in the States?

    I bought an RX 2 tonearm a month or so ago.  I was going to use it for something of an art project with my kids, but would consider selling it to someone who wants to restore an otherwise working table.

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70

    Hi Rich, It does seem to be the same arm as the RX2, I'm in Manchester, England,uk I don't think shipping wouldn't be much so yes I would be interested. If you could pm me with you price. Cheers
