    Beogram 5005 lid adjustment

    Hello!

    So I've got myself a nice Beogram 5005 for a miserly 50€.

It works, but the MMC4 has lost its stylus and cantilever!

How can you adjust the lid?

The hinges are fine but its depth is wrong. There is a clear gap at its back, and it protrudes at the front.

There must be some kind of adjustment, surely?

    Thanks!

    Jacques

I have had many of these in pieces and I cannot remember any type of adjustment on the lid.

    Regards Graham

    Thanks Graham.

What am I supposed to do then?

Nothing looks broken or displaced, and the overhang is symetrical. It leaves a 4 mm gap between the cover and the back.

Just to make sure, have you seen one of these decks up close before? That stupid 3-4 mm gap belongs there. The front should be more or less flush, however Hmm

Can't remember any adjustment as such either. Perhaps some of the mountings allow for some play, I dunno...

    Thanks Mika.

    No, this is my first.

More or less flush... Okay then.

    They are all like this?

By the way, there is no 33/45 indication, just two red lights. Is anything missing?

Probably the plastic window that has the fake 7-segment displays Sad

(and yes, as far as I know the lids are all like that, no matter which model)

    Re: Beogram 5005 lid adjustment

    Thanks for the piccy Mika.

Where on earth will I find one?

Not inside the deck mind you, I've already been there!

Perhaps somebody has a spare indicator arm - AFAIK it's the same regardless of the model or colour of the deck.

But, it shouldn't be too difficult to fabricate a replacement window. I would start with laser printer proof overhead projector slides, then some diffuser film (scratched plastic or thin white paper)...

Or Letraset transfers and black and white film...

    Re: Beogram 5005 lid adjustment

Thanks Graham - I do appreciate this!

Your smiley also put a big smile on my face!

Anyway, I will decline your friendly offer because another member actually did the same.

I now have to send the MMC over to Axel and I will be able to run comparisons with the other Beograms I've got - 3000, 4000 and 8000!

    Re: Beogram 5005 lid adjustment

    Hello!

Well I've skimmed the Web, especially UTube and it seems that many actually don't have the fake digital indicator...

    A common problem then?

I must have had in excess of 50 of these decks over the years and I have never seen one without the correct indicator!
