Hi folks, I've been offered a used Serene at a fairly knocked down price, as there are some lines extending across the screen. The seller claims it has been this way for some time. Should I pick it up cheaply, or avoid like the plague?

My wife's Serene has one line across the screen. I asked the service center and was told this is a fairly common fault. Unfortunately the replacement screen cost was over $250.00 just for the screen.
