    9000, Beogram, Penta

    Just purchased used Penta III's.  They are in excellent shape cosmetically and sound great.  I am currently driving them with a 4000 music system.

    I have three questions I would appreciate input on;

    1- What are the common repair concerns on the Penta's that I should be looking or listening for?

    2- I want to upgrade to a 9000 music system.  I can save many dollars by purchasing used.  Any compelling reasons to buy new, advantages of a Mark I, II, or III, and any used dealers to stay away from?

    3- Finally, I want to add a turntable.  What is considered B&O's best turntable as I begin my search.

    Thanks

    Hello, welcome to BeoWorld!

    1- The four midrange drivers are likely due for re-foaming if they haven't been already. The next most common exercise is replacing the capacitors in the crossovers.

    2- Off the top of my head the MK 3 BS9000 sticks out because it has the N.Music or N.Radio feature. Good if you have BeoPort, BeoMedia or some other digital source.

    3- From what I hear (from people here on the site!), that would be the tangential 4000's from the 1970's. Maybe just as good, there are the 8000's and 9XXX.

    Thank you Evan.  Great input and really gets me pointed in the right direction.
